Pretty much.

Houston and Gordon. Worthless noose contracts.

I know Hog Farmer is trying to Demonpenz us all, but I still want to bring this up:

Who cares? If Mahomes goes down, I have zero reason to watch this year's Chiefs anyway. May as well take the top 5 pick in 2019 as a consolation prize.

Guarantee you a quality edge rusher can be had in later rounds. And who says Kpass is a bust ???

Easy 6 02-11-2018 10:52 AM

I suppose it would depend on who they're targeting, but my first reaction is to say no

Not ready to ditch our best pass rusher yet, put some talent back along that front 7 and he can still be productive... he doesnt even turn 30 until January

And the years after we'd see it all back. Houston isn't getting any younger and Mahomes rookie contract has 3 good years on it. Spend spend spend in FA build yourself a solid team in those three years and ride the pine to a SB while it's cheap.

If they actually trade up chances are whoever they trade up for is a guy they feel is a guaranteed superstar anyway.

There is no reason to believe that Mayfield would have any better result than a Chase Daniel would as a backup QB. It is not like we are just going to compete for a Championship with Mayfield in his first year. We would be just as likely to be drafting in the middle of the 1st with whatever backup QB.

The cap savings is not 20 mil. It's about 8 mil with the dead cap hit this year. No it's definitely not worth it.

Take the 20 mil and sign Jimmy Graham and 2 OL

Mayfield gives us our backup and could also be used for a trade in a year or two to get picks. Plus Denver doesn't get him

I see your line of thinking. But No... I believe Mahomes pushed Mayfield out of Texas Tech. Last thing needed right now is Mahomes having to look over his shoulder in his first year as The Man. I'd rather they went defense and or turned that #4 into more picks by trading back down a few times. That way, Houston essentially turns into a handful of day 1/day 2 draft picks plus the shed CAP space.

Red Dawg 02-11-2018 12:20 PM

Houston is damaged but what would that do to locker room. We made a commitment to him in a big way and DJ and Hali are going out. I would do it for Peters and draft Fitzpatrick. No problem.

Red Dawg 02-11-2018 12:22 PM

Drafting Baker would be an insane move.
