Hey, I'm willing to trust that the coaching staff knows what they are doing.

Like everybody else was, prior to this news coming out.

If we're going to trade Ford might as well keep Houston for another year

Trading Ford and not Houston would be a bad business decision. If one has to go, it's Houston.

Your next plan being Speaks and Kpasso. The general rule is linemen need 3 years to fully develop. So the odds of a rook coming in here and picking up where Ford/Houston left off is slim.

Dude....we haven't even gotten to FA or the draft yet.

From what it looks like.....the coaching staff doesn't think that Ford fits in the 4-3. Oh ****ing well.

Funny isn't it?

When everybody was piling on me about not wanting to keep Ford, it was "trust in the coaching staff. The coaching staff is going to fix this".

Now that they apparently want to get rid of Ford AND Houston, the coaching staff is dumb and has no clue.

Gotta love CP.

If they get rid of both Ford and Houston, they HAVE to get a quality vet pass rusher.

Starting Tanoh and Speaks is basically punting on 2019

Seems like this happens every day now.

Why does it look that way? This exactly how the Chiefs maximize their leverage in negotiations and extract value. They express to the rest of the league that they have options. You want Houston? Well, he may not be cut because we may trade Ford instead. You want Ford? Well, we don't have to trade him as we can just cut Houston.

If the Chiefs approached this any other way, they'd be idiotic.

Starting two 2nd round picks is apparently punting the season now. Good to ****ing know.

That very well may be the case.

I'm saying that blowing it all up, even your talented players is not how you get better. Maybe eventually, but certainly not in 2019.

Like last season when the Chiefs thought it was a good idea to trade away their best corner. They didn't get better.

Maybe they will eventually....but they didnt in 2018 even though everyone swore it was addition by subtraction.

And Spags isn't exactly Wade Phillips. Dude has a very, very mixed bag of results in the NFL.

Meh, you get a high pick for Ford (I imagine).

It doesn't sound like we're getting anything for Houston.

If you cut Houston and stick with Ford you're stuck with about 7 million in dead cap and Ford's 15 million dollar franchise tag.

So keep Ford= 22 million against the cap and low or no draft pick

Keep Houston and trade Ford= 23 million against the cap. Acquire a high draft pick

I know people here poo-poo this, but he's a young, still ascending player, has played for this d-line coach and so already knows the calls and responsibilities and is a better all-around player. He's probably at most a 10 sack guy, but a 10 sack guy that plays the entire game well is a good pick-up.

He and Landon Collins would give you two young studs well versed in the scheme to build your defense around.

suzzer99 03-04-2019 05:53 PM

Aw man does this mean no more threads like "Chiefs about to/will/to/in the process of/gonna/definitely really for sure gonna tag Dee Ford"? Sad.

I'm not down on either of those guys. But there's no denying that the defense would be getting worse.

You're taking the only thing this D did well and removing it and hoping they're better for it.

Maybe they trade both. I'm not ruling it out. But i can't see that making them a better unit in 2019.

O.city 03-04-2019 05:53 PM

Don’t worry guys, we’re gonna get rid of our most impactful players to free up money to sign....(checks notes) and in the box safety who’s coming off an injury plagued season to a big contract
