/thread. **** ‘em. I’ll enjoy college ball as much, if not more, without them.

TomBarndtsTwin 08-02-2020 07:19 PM

Yup. Good riddance.

Go get your ‘free ride’ somewhere else (if you can).

Most of us have to go into debt to pay for a 4 year college education.

PAC-12 needs to tell everyone of them to **** off. If they don’t like it, they can transfer elsewhere.

BigCatDaddy 08-02-2020 07:24 PM

WSU just told guys promoting this to clean out their lockers. Welcome to the real world fellas.

tredadda 08-02-2020 07:26 PM

I fully expect all of these demands to be met. This is the PAC 12 after all. Most of these universities are located in bastions of far left ideologies such as Berkeley, Eugene, Seattle, Boulder etc......The schools will give in to avoid being called out by their far left base.

Yeah, college athletics is a real oddity of our society. Why are colleges serving as the farm teams for pros? Why are colleges using athletics as a fundraiser when the most successful of them do so at a significant cost to their academic reputations? Go back to concentrating on academics and let's not even have athletics associated with college.

Thats not the NCAAs fault. Who enacts rules to discriminate based on age? It's not the NCAA. The NBA created the one year in college or outside of HS rule to help minimize risk on young talent and the busts that can cripple a franchise. They enacted this rule to gain certainty.

The NFL requires 3 years outside of HS before you can go. These rules are discriminatory and not on the NCAA.

It's still a choice to accept a scholarship, room, board, plus the stipend they get in exchange for playing the sport. Its an offer and if you accept it you abide by the rules of the scholarship. Nobody is making you go to college. Dont want to go? Dont have to go.

It's a perfect time to pull this because all the private sector businesses are cowardly giving in to PC crap and the schools birth this stuff and these student athletes the majority of them are minority with a Civil Rights Lawyer I assure you and they are just in line to get their due. The athletic dept. in no way will stand up to this because the school won't let them especially since Covid rules the day.

No..New guy so he has no ties to the players and has some rope for a bit.

kcclone 08-02-2020 09:18 PM

These guys may find out that only 5-10% of them actually have any market value, especially at a time when revenues are plummeting. The P12 was barely staying afloat as it was before Covid.

don't worry.....when they end up working at McDonalds or some other job that's not meant to sustain a career; are in a low income bracket, and their lives generally suck...it'll be someone else's fault for oppressing them.

hilarious WSU called their all in bluff then the players were holding a Jack - Two off suit.

BYe.

Too bad they'll be to stupid to treat this as a learning experience...pick your battles and be prepared to live with the consequences (which they aren't)

Marcellus 08-03-2020 08:59 AM

The players listing demands will be the same ones partying and going to bars.

Honestly, I think they know that 95%+ of them "won't go pro" (as that one NCAA commercial suggested a couple years back), so I think this, for that group who realize they probably won't go pro and know they're not really smart, is to try and create a nest-egg of sorts while they're in college. I think a huge percentage of them know they'll probably fail at being anything more than a gym coach because they're there to play a game, and few of them take the academic side seriously.

EDIT: Plus, the colleges are making huge bank on their backs, a hell of a lot more than room and board and a few classes (that they probably don't attend anyway), so they want a cut of those huge contracts the schools are getting.

It's ok. They can just take their $150K opt out money...
