That was my first thought as well. Any POS that would pull what the seller is doing, isn't going to give a damn about keeping up the house. The seller needs his ass kicked. The squatter is exploiting loop holes and only delaying the inevitable, this happens in various ways all across the country and has nothing unique to do with CA other than people are obsessed with California.
