I wanted him to replace Sutton as DC.

He threw away the division championship and a good shot at the #1 seed.

They'd have to play a whole 'nother game to reach the SB.

When your opponent is shooting themselves in the foot, you take the points.

You stack those 3's.

Yeah, you have to apply the analytics to what's actually happening in front of you. I get it early in the game and then the fumble was unfortunate (perhaps another reason to take the points), but then before half you know the Chiefs' offense isn't doing great and you simply have to take those 3 (as just one example).

I didn't mind it. There's no question they've won games in part due to the aggressive approach.

Plus, this isn’t some dogshit D the Chargers were playing against last night. Yes, we were without 3 of our very best players, but FFS, points are hard to get in the NFL. The first series of the game, I get totally going for it on 4th. The series before half? Yeah, You are just being a stupid little bitch and deserve to lose the game to the far superior Team.

They're 8-5 leading up to this game becasue they've played like that all year. It wasn't a one off.

wachashi 12-17-2021 08:55 AM

It seems like people disagree most with the decision to go for it on 4th and Goal from the Chiefs' one-yard line before halftime. I wouldn't have an issue at all with Reid going for it in that same situation. I may not like the play call or I may have gripes about execution, but the decision to go would be fine with me.

Assessment: god damn reerun he is

Also, does anyone else find it really disrespectful when teams repeatedly go for it on 4th down?

Balto 12-17-2021 08:57 AM

I mean it is what it is but I was the most nervous on those 4th downs....Makes the game super exciting thats for sure.

I'm probably wrong here but from my understanding Analytics take a lot of data from past examples and outcomes. If true and how we all can agree that 4th down tries and such are becoming more and more common won't this shift the analytics and should start to show the REAL odds of kicking vs going for it? the sample size of kicking vs going for it can't be "HUGE" and with more and more tries this should start to show the "real" numbers.

Analytics has a part but didn't work last night /shrug

Overrated. Wound too tight. Team reflected that in critical situations.

And on the other side, most of us would have felt a little relief if they'd just kicked it in most of those situations. That's a pretty good indicator that we know deep down that going for it is the best option.

wachashi 12-17-2021 09:01 AM

Just because it doesn't work doesn't mean it was the wrong decision. Just like a coach may make the right decision to kick a field goal but it gets blocked.

They've gone for it on 4th down 26 times this year. It's just what they do. We just gave them enough short ones that the numbers said to go a lot.
