The key to Leftwich being successful or not will be the staff he builds and whether Trevor lives up to his draft status. I do think this is a pretty good hire for Jacksonville.

He was good for the Jaguars when he was healthy and made a playoff appearance. His career was just derailed by injuries.

I totally disagree.

I think Leftwich is perfect, he not only fits the organization, but he's a young offensive minded coach who understands players. Look, this team needs to be out of the headlines and just start building something. They have all the parts to be successful IMO.

You might be right. Particularly about the extra attention bringing harbaugh in would incite. I didn’t consider that when I posted.

The biggest advantage I see in harbaugh is that he already has a solid blueprint for how to build up a team from the ground up. Byron would have to figure it out for the first time.

But if Byron does get the job I wish him all the best.

Smart man.

Probably not a bad idea. That team has a history of just signing and drafting local players to appease all the SEC/FSU fans in the area.

Sounds like they're about to hire Leftwich/Wilson. He'll be a hero regardless just getting rid of Baalke

The Franchise 01-27-2022 10:32 AM

Leftwich is smarter than I thought he was. The Jags might actually get good again.

Problem is Trevor is limited but if he runs a modern/efficient offense can use Lawrence's strengths and hide his weaknesses.

staylor26 01-27-2022 10:38 AM

The thing is, Byron wants Adrian Wilson to be the GM, but the guy is REALLY green.

I’m not so sure this alternative is that much better. Inexperienced HC and GM taking over an absolute mess?

Sounds like a recipe for disaster if you ask me.

Already had a known disaster in Baalke. At least now it's a clue unknowns.

I get that, but I also don’t think it’s a situation to be overly excited/optimistic about either.

So not only would the Jags probably be looking at a first time HC and GM, the top candidate for the DC job sounds like it would be Larry Foote, who was still playing just a few years ago.

Rookie GM, HC, and DC on the worst team in the NFL?

Again, that sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Bump 01-27-2022 07:18 PM

I thought he was going to be a really good QB back when he played, it didn't really work out and for what reason I forget. But it's pretty cool he's rising up the coaching ranks so fast.
