Who cares. Pick up a UDFA bruiser to be our 3rd down back. Running backs don't matter.

When the Jags were shopping him I said we should throw them a late pick and folks ridiculed me. Low and behold he went on to beat us in the superbowl. The veteran RB market has some big names out there and a few rumors about Barkley and CMC too floating around. Fournette would be great but I suspect we'll draft a guy and bring a cheap vet like Mack to enhance the RB room. WE MUST make our running game scary enough for teams not to dare drop seven or eight deep again.

Agreed. Healthy CEH is going to look really good.

We could fix the CEH miss by bringing in Harvey Williams out of retirement

I'm not in the market for a high-priced veteran RB, but if I were I'd be in the Barkley business way before I was in the Fournette business.

I'm sure they are still going to roll with CEH as the main option, though. I haven't totally lost faith after hearing what he went through last offseason. Really helped explain why he looked so shitty this year. He showed a lot more burst in the playoffs.

What did he go through? I missed that.

Capt_Von_Trapp 03-09-2022 02:20 PM

What about a bruiser like LeGarette Blunt? Is he still around?

Rasputin 03-09-2022 04:17 PM

CEH is going kick some ass this year. This offensive line can give CEH 10 yard carry average. Of course Andy won't take advantage that because he'd rather pass.

Molitoth 03-09-2022 04:22 PM

Sure, lets overpay for another RB we won't use.

Some of you fools just don't get it.

Every time Gore gets an opportunity, he does well. CEH has been really good since he came back from injury. Andy Reid simply just does not like to run the football, which normally makes sense when your QB is Mahomes. That said, if Mahomes starts seeing the same looks he did by the Bengals with everyone dropping into coverage, Andy better be less stingy with running the ball.

I doubt anyone is overpaying Fournette. I think the idea is solid: pair a large phatback with a down field passing attack.

We can't make Andy run the guy. We can't make Brett draft a CB before the 6th round. We can't make grown men do what's best...

No offense, Mr. chiefforlife ...

But FA running backs are a no-go for me.

The cost/value proposition is historically unfavorable. (Priest Holmes notwithstanding.)

However, I would love to see the Chiefs field a truly threatening run game. It would solve a lot of issues.

Perhaps Bart Varch has a 4th round Jamaal Charles clone draft pick up his sleeve.

I'd argue it's been pretty favorable for us. Probably because we didn't spend a lot of money there.

But when you can draft a starter every year in the 3rd - 5th round why bother? I get it. I still think you roll the dice on a Barkely or Taylor or generational guy.

Upon further reflection ...

The Marcus Allen acquisition was positive (and, of course, Priest) ...

But I'm having difficulty remembering any solid contributors we acquired in FA at the running back position that didn't just wind up costing us dough and an extra sideline seat.

I said you should stop posting and everyone agreed. Low and behold you're still here and everyone still hates you.
