I have a friend from Florida that just freaks out every spring when the sirens start with the tornado warnings. I've tried to tell him that just because there might be conditions which favor a tornado, it's not a hurricane and they are not predictable.

Because the summers are just as bad in Georgia and Alabama but at least Florida is fun

I wouldn't mind going without power for about 67 minutes if that happens. Anything longer than that and the house gets too hot so, **** that shit

I don't get it. Why do you care? Don't think about him and he is gone.

When you lose power in the heat, is when you really notice the lack of basements.

Fortunately, I have propane generator backup.

Out here in the Bay Area it never freezes and we have mild temp all year round. Rarely does it hit triple digit temps and there basically no humidity. Convertible weather year round.

Hope that CP member from Florida who's always bashing on California is staying safe if there is a Hurricane.

Earthquakes out here ain't no joke though. :D

Meh. It’s just two different forms of extreme weather.

It’s no more uncomfortable to be cold than it is to be hot. It’s no more expensive to run the heat than it is to run the AC.

People in the south have this crippling fear of cold weather like it’s ****ing torturous when they’re being advised by weather agencies to stay inside for 1-2 weeks every summer because of the extreme heat.

“Just drink water” you say? Okay. Then just wear a ****ing coat. It’s not hard.

I hope you enjoyed your nearly two weeks of forced power conservation “Flex Alerts”, resulting from California’s epic failure of a power grid.

The most state-specific form of death in Florida is hurricanes.

The most state-specific form of death in Alabama is being hit by beer cans that are thrown from pickups.
