I am confident they can beat the Bills. Not as much with Cincinnati until they prove otherwise.

Yeah they should knock the Titans out, all three of those teams wouldn't win in a shootout with Jacksonville. Titans did it to themselves with the AJ Brown maneuver, at least getting rid of Tyreek didn't do anything to us, but it crippled the Titans this year not giving him a new contract and thinking your rookie was the next Justin Jefferson or something.

IIRC, Robinson was not impressive in Jags v. Chiefs this year at Arrowhead.

I want to say "but they're the Jaguars lol" and then recall they nearly carried Blake Bortles to a Super Bowl appearance.

The Titans made the mistake of adopting a one-size fits all sort of approach.

The Chiefs could move on from Hill because they still had Kelce and Mahomes. They have 2 force multipliers in their passing game.

The Titans had Tannehill and...uh...what? They don't even have a Corey Davis sort anymore. And obviously Tannehill ain't Mahomes.

By getting rid of AJ Brown, they just gutted their passing game. Expecting Robert Woods to come in there at 30 years old coming off a major injury and be a lynchpin for their passing game was just completely idiotic.

Then again, it's somewhat akin to folks suggesting we trade Chris Jones. Taking Jones off our DL would be very similar to the Titans taking Brown out of their WR corps. It takes the one truly elite asset they had in that group and replaced it with...meh. And why? Because they thought they could replace him rather than do what they needed to do to supplement him.

There's a lesson to be learned here, fellas...

Always liked Doug, so biased from the start. But I always thought that Pederson could probably turn Trevor into a decent QB, if anyone could. i said it in the JAX thread that I thought they were a year or two away from winning their division, but I'd be happy for them if they got in this year. I don't think they're really ready yet, but TEN is falling off, they have a path to get in, and they're a lot more fun to watch than TEN.

Screw it, I hope JAX knocks TEN off this year. Tired of TEN at this point. JAX is going to rule that division from now on, and the AFC will be better for it.

After the Jags beat the Chargers, I made a bet with a friend who is a Dolphins fan. A 12-pack of the winners choice that the Jags would win that division. He was making fun of me for making the bet. Three weeks ago, I told him that I thought the Dolphins would be fortunate to win two more games, he wanted to make a big bet and I think I should have taken him up on it.

Not sure why we have so much trouble with that division; the teams aren't good. They play a style that gives the Chiefs trouble... Except for the Jags, that game was never in doubt.

In a similar vein the Lions are 7-7 after starting 1-6. They hold tie breakers over Giants and Commanders. Remaining CAR CHI and GB. They have a good chance to get in. It's been 31 years since they won a playoff game.

Lawrence will end up being Mahomes true rival. I've said it for a while, just that CP isn't patience if you aren't a HOF as a rookie.

Sure.

But combined probability says they won't.

And with the high variance nature of this team (they look like a 17 win team and a 2 win team from one quarter to the next, let alone game to game) it just strikes me as DAMN unlikely they make it through those two teams.

I don't know if I would go that far, but there is a new generation of first class QBs in the NFL now, and they are exclusively in the AFC.

I'd like their chances more if they don't have to play both, but I don't think we should ever concede a game vs anyone as long as Reid and Mahomes are here.

And yeah, their quality of play is up and down, but you can say that about any year, including the SB year. They tend to be focused and sharp in the playoffs, with exception of the 2nd half vs the Bengals last year. And I think they've learned from the mistakes that day.

I'm just not sure this team is strictly a focus issue.

There are very real talent issues on the DL and a young secondary that I just don't think you can count on. And you don't have "**** it, Tyreek's down there somewhere" to bail you out either.

The ups and downs on this team are more a result of roster than in years past, IMO. Focused or not, I just don't think they have the requisite talent and/or experience to be a consistently championship caliber team.

Now that's not to say anyone else out there is appreciably better in that regard - but I think this is the least 'playoff ready' team we've had since '18. It can be focused and just...lose. Because it relies more on coaching/scheme than any team we've had in that era.

If not for penalties and careless turnovers, the last two games are laughers with very one-sided statsheets. To me that's a focus issue. Mahomes got careless with a 27-0 first half lead in Denver and I don't think they took Houston very seriously until the 4th quarter.

I do worry about teams like the Bengals and Bills tearing our defense apart, but KC is as capable or more of doing the same to theirs. I think HFA will be important for the defense.
