Pretty much how it reads to me as well. QBs that have the ability to create and/or throw into those 2nd-3rd windows aren't on his menu. he wants his QB to execute the play exactly as he drew it up, or get out of town.

As good as the 49ers have been, imagine if they hadn’t blown the Lance or Solomon Thomas picks.

They’d be a dynasty for sure.

They whiffed on Kinlaw and Reuben Foster too.

True, although I think the actual whiff there was trading Buckner in the first place. Don't extend Ford and they have the money to keep him.

Graystoke 08-23-2023 05:14 PM

Broncos should pick him up. He can join the long list of fail QBs following Horse Face.

The funny thing is that this is Mahomes’ fault. The 49ers could have had Mahomes but didn’t take him and fans there still lament this. With Lance getting comps to Mahomes in some aspects of his game and potential they over corrected massively so they didn’t miss the next Mahomes.

Also, Micah Parsons, went at the pick that the 49ers traded out of so they could move up for Lance. They really have screwed themselves by not being able to figure out the QB.

A massive blunder.

They aren't most likely because of Purdy. When you can get a potentially solid starter with the Mr. Irrelevant pick, you get a little more room for error. Still a lot for a guy they thought would be their Mahomes.

Dude was never going to be good. I watched him enough in college to know.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-23-2023 06:01 PM

Guy played two years of football after middle school, none in FBS, and the 49ers gave all that up for him. It's easily in the running for worst move ever, and it never made sense at any point.

I’m thinking Dungver, Paidaton already knows EmbaRuss is cooked. Lance could be a reclamation project, and can take over when Russett gets injured or benched! Do it PaysATon!

Eh, there just might not be much there to develop. For all the flaws Kyle Shanahan has as a head coach, he has pulled a lot of chicken salad out of chicken shit at the QB position, even if it is a self made problem.

That's exactly it in that it's a self made problem. How many QB's got hurt last year in his system? All the QB's got wiped out in his system. He leaves his QB's exposed.

Lance could still develop but he needs the right situation (again lol).

Washington
Seattle
Miami
Chicago

All seem like spots that could work. Guess it depends on the compensation.

I was just talking about this with some guys on Reddit. It’s crazy to think about what that team could be with all those picks.

They should have both barrels fired daily. What they gave up for this puke is incredible.

This move should have set the 49ers back 5 years and yet here they are with a good chance to get back to the NFC Championship game.

Team Doctor might have something to say about that.

May not be in support of their UDFA, it may be that Lance is just unplayable and they're liquidating before there is any more tape on him.

Bottom line is when push has come to shove and the franchise has had big decisions to make at the QB position, Ratface has shit the bed each and every time. He's done it twice to this team.

He's a fine coach. Maybe even a great coach. But he's sure as hell not a QB whisperer like so many people think he is.

As well you should. The fact that he is a QB whisperer is the sole reason he hasn't gone the way of the Chan Gailey or Cam Carmeron's of the world. His base level of competency has led to a hubris that limits his capacity to be truly effective.

I read somewhere that the play that got Purdy killed in the NFCCG, the DE was blocked 1 on 1 with no help by a TE (Don't care enough to rewatch and verify). Best DL in the league. Singled up on a TE? That is incomprehensibly stupid. Sure, his base level of competency did not let him see that it is ****ing DUMB to not be conservative with 1 passer on the roster. Yes, you can create favorable matchups if you leave a DE singled up on your TE. You can also dead your QB and lose the NFCCG.

Shanahanarat Jr is a smart son of a bitch. He's also a dumb ****ing son of a bitch.

They wanted to draft the next Mahomes. Peer pressure.
