USC living up to its nickname "University of Spoiled Children". Good grief. Hope this guy goes undrafted.

RealSNR 10-18-2023 06:59 PM

Like why doesn’t he get married and demand that his wife be put on staff at 10mm/yr as an assistant QBs coach?

That was my initial thought. I guess you could give someone ownership in lieu of salary, but that would be a miniscule share even if they worked for minimum wage.

The more I think about it, you'd be handcuffing yourself as well, because it would be very problematic to go to another team during your career. Could they trade you? Could you leave in free agency? Could you play for a different team against your ownership interest? Could you go to another team and then participate in salary negotiations for players on your original team?

I don't think Mr. Williams is thinking this through.

It's a literal impossibility with the cap.

How do you even assign a value to it? The ownership interest is of theoretically unlimited value. And of perpetual duration.

You can't calculate that in the salary cap at all.

It's just a functionally reeruned ask.

Nah, accountants exist for a reason.

Typically equity acquisitions are Cash in exchange for shares/equity percentage.

CBA dictates for rookies there is a scale and game checks. So each game, they withhold his check and exchange it on the balance sheet for equity (surely these are all corporations so we'll go with shares).

So each check, caleb gets some shares, but no cash. So after his rookie contract, he 41M of equity in whatever shit franchise is out there, let's say the Faid - they're giving shit away. Franchise is worth 6.2 Billion.

Congrats, Caleb, you get .66% of the Faid. Oh, and 5 years of tax liability on 41M. Oh, and by the way, Faid are cash poor so there won't be any dividends.

Enjoy, bitch.

I'd think it would have to be a cash distribution per the CBA. Then they'd have to exchange that for the equity shares.

DrunkBassGuitar 10-18-2023 07:07 PM

Now I hope he goes to the broncos any team that takes him is going to be a shit show

I get what you're saying, but did Caleb even consider current-day Mahomes making that kind of demand?

I cam think of a couple things, Caleb.

Like wait your goddamn turn until you earn generational wealth.

Or keep your ****ing mouth shut.

Does this delusional tool (yeah, I just decided I can't stand him, assuming there is any truth to this) also play baseball?

Or, does he even really want to play in the NFL? Maybe he believes he can turn his NIL money into a lot more money, without having to go to a bad team, suffer lots of losing, and get beat up before washing out of the NFL because he couldn't live up to the Patrick Mahomes comparisons?

St. Patty's Fire 10-18-2023 07:28 PM
