Has Bryce young ever made a bible quote in an interview? That might give us a clue about who wanted him.

If it's true, I'm sure we'll find out now that Reich has been fired. No way he keeps his mouth shut if Young was forced onto him.

So much proof that the coaches wanted CJ. They loved him. This is what a bad, meddling owner will do. Thank Christ Clark Hunt is not like this.

Is this fired from two teams in three years?

Yes, I'm aware of the McCown clip. Sold me that they were going Stroud too.

Like I said, I can buy it, but I wouldn't consider it a fact just yet.

Good for Reich to get the buyout money from 2 teams. This firing after less than a year on the job is another good example of “Not For Long” in this sport.

chiefzilla1501 11-27-2023 10:54 AM

So if he gets hired for another HC position , is that team bringing the third Reich?

That coaching staff will last a thousand years.

BigCatDaddy 11-27-2023 11:46 AM

And St. Joseph native Chris Tabor is the interim coach. Pretty cool little story.

Eleazar 11-27-2023 11:57 AM

Yeah, Reich is the problem, not the fact that they tanked the team and traded the moon for Young

Outside of Hurts, the only other one worth a damn is Tua and he's given a plethora of offensive firepower to work with and already has concussion problems in his young career. Maybe they're turning it around, but Nick Saban knows how to build teams much more so than quarterbacks.

Would you stay away from Caleb Williams if you had a top pick in this draft? While I get what you are saying, the same argument could be said about USC QBs (outside of Palmer) and tOSU QBs (outside of Stroud this year).

BossChief 11-27-2023 12:08 PM

What a clown show.

How on earth did they think that trading DJ Moore as a piece of moving up for Young was a good idea?

tk13 11-27-2023 12:15 PM

Be interesting to see who they get, with an owner who everyone considers a meddling owner with no patience, and the fact they already gave up their 1st round pick this year. Can't see that being a big hit with the top coaches unless someone is just in love with Bryce Young.

Yep, I'd stay away from Williams as well. Judge the player, not the pedigree. Saban may be able to give you an unstoppable defensive player, but on the Quarterback position his imprint is mediocre. He had Hurts but then went with Tua above him, but outside of those two recent examples, only one of which has gone to a Super Bowl, you're asking for it when you draft an Alabama QB and ask them to save your franchise. They're given everything on a silver platter, where their mistakes can easily be erased by the talent surrounding them.

Going back to 83 when I was born you have:

Notre Dame - Theismann
Louisiana State - David Woodley
Stanford - Plunkett
Pittsburgh - Marino
BYU - McMahon
Illinois - Eason
Morehead State - Simms
Stanford - Elway
Grambling - Doug Williams
Maryland - Boomer Esiason
West Virginia - Hostetler
Miami (FL) - Jim Kelly
Washington State - Rypien
Oklahoma - Aikman
UCLA - Aikman
NE Louisiana - Humphries
Southern Mississippi - Brett Favre
Washington - Chris Chandler
Alcorn State - Steve McNair
Northern Iowa - Kurt Warner
Fresno State - Trent Dilfer
Penn State - Kerry Collins
Michigan - Tom Brady
Delaware - Rich Gannon
Louisiana-Lafeyette - Jake Delhomme
Syracuse - Donovan McNabb
Miami (OH) - Ben Roethlisburger
Boston College - Matt Hasselbeck
Tennessee - Peyton Manning
Purdue - Drew Brees
Florida - Rex Grossman
Mississippi - Eli Manning
California - Aaron Rodgers
Nevada - Colin Kaepernick
NC State - Russell Wilson
Wisconsin - Russell Wilson
Auburn - Cam Newton
Arizona - Nick Foles
Eastern Illinois - Jimmy Garoppolo
Texas Tech - Co-GOAT
Georgia - Stafford
LSU - Burrow
Alabama - Hurts
Oklahoma - Hurts

Alabama has co-produced only one Super Bowl Quarterback in my lifetime, three others before my lifetime being Kenny Stabler, Joe Namath and Bart Starr. They've changed to the team that everyone wants to go to to make them rich, famous, to make their college ball easier, or all of the above.

I get it, that the University doesn't make the Quarterback successful in the NFL, but their intentions in today's game does. I wouldn't take a QB from Alabama if I were a GM and Nick Saban has shown the lack of proper QB progression even if his style is more Pro ready. Of course it's all a guessing game, but even without the names, I could make that call using recent history that CJ Stroud should've been taken over Bryce Young. Work in the size as well, CJ would have to do something pretty drastic to not be considered for either.
