Do we get a comp pick for a promotion like this? Or is that only if he gets a head coaching job?

No, but the shitbag niners will get another comp pick if Merritt then gets hired off their staff to be a head coach.

I get that's what the rule was trying to accomplish, but still. How many comp picks have the Niners reaped since it became a thing? McDaniel (****ing bullshit) Ryans, and some sort of executive too?

**** these guys.

They can have Connor Embree for free

Rainbarrel 02-28-2024 04:49 PM

Don't turn your back when getting that close to horses. Back out

Rain Man 02-28-2024 05:04 PM

Keep your stinking paws off of him, you damn dirty apes.

It's really not. There was a report just yesterday that it "looks like" Brandon Staley and Nick Sorensen look to be the finalists.

One guy is a former DC, the other is already in SF and a guy they really like.

It's highly unlikely that they choose Merritt over both those guys.

I was responding to the 9ers window closing

Ohh that's absolutely happening. They don't have an elite QB. Nobody's window stays open long when you don't. Exactly how much longer do you think McCaffrey, Deebo, Kittle, etc. have?

The roster is already suffering from their all-in approach.

They have a year, maybe 2.

Pitt Gorilla 02-28-2024 06:07 PM

Increase the his salary and keep him another year or so. Don't want to lose this guy now, even though we eventually will.

The 49ers window is about to slam shut. I don't see them going with a rookie DC.

Well Dave wouldn't have called "cover zero" against Pat! Just saying.

Purdy is an upgrade over Jimmy G and they've been in how many NFC title games the past 5 years? It's not like Armstead, Boss, Warner, Huffanga are that old plus they'll bring back Ayiuk.

CP underrates Purdy but they do that with every QB that isn't Mahomes. See: Burrow, Allen, etc.

Armstead is 30 and coming off a down year, which typically means he's on the decline.

Huffanga will be a FA after this season and is coming off a season ending injury.

Bosa and Warner are the only guys you listed that are still long term pieces.

Purdy is a good QB when you're paying him peanuts, hence why I said they have "a year, maybe two."

And again, how much longer do you think McCaffrey, Deebo, and Kittle have?

All of that goes without mentioning their salary cap situation as well.

3 year window possibly longer depending on how they do with 11 draft picks

Ok.

Do you not think they have been a successful franchise when it comes to drafting?
