The two runs in the first were absolutely helped by a very tight zone. Just go and look. Ump clearly missed 5 or 6 strikes. That's a lot to overcome in one inning when you don't throw straight gas and make your living on the corners. It's not like the Yankees are bombing away on Lugo. They've had a few hard hits, but they've all gone for singles, several of which were worm burners.
Against the Tribe, that was just weird. He was CRUISING through the first 3 innings, then Cleveland started making him work, and got a couple of timely homers. I'd say that's mostly just baseball for you when you're up against a hot team.
Regression was inevitable, but going up against Cleveland and the Yankees isn't gonna make it easy on anyone.
