A guy who gets with a single mom* is the type of guy she would never bother with before she had children.

* Widows != single moms.

Only for a friends with benefits relationship on the sperm donors weekend to watch the rugrat.

Ah yes, being a step dad. All of the responsibility, none of the authority, and solid chance of having none of the love or respect. You also get the privilege of knowing that you will never be the single mom's priority. You will always take a backseat to her kids. Good luck if her kids just decide they don't like you. Single moms are a big L the vast majority of the time. There's literally no upside.

Dude no one anywhere near our age is childless, hell most of us are Grampa aged... if you want a woman 30+ the kids are a 100% built in responsibility more often than not

Step in there and be firm but fair

I caught me a single mom 10 years ago and we're still together. We were both coming out of divorces and weren't expecting much. But she and I worked so we made it work for the kids too.

But I totally see why someone might want to stay away from the situation. I was certainly iffy about it initially, but ultimately I could see myself with her for a long time, so I learned how to be there for the kids too.

Not my situation. Just a generalized question.

When I was younger I would have been dumb enough to go in blind.

With years of wisdom and other friends getting absolutely ****ed over in single mom situations, no way in hell.

Lol, I’m way past that point in my life where I’d even consider dealing with all that. Back in the day I did, but I don’t have the time or bandwidth for that now.

Just went to a wedding Friday where I am friends of the step dad. He got to speak at the wedding but the bio dad did not, even though he was present.

Statistics say probably not good odds. But individual people are not stats.

1 kid, maybe. Multiple kids same dad.... worse odds but still maybe. Multiple kids by multiple dads.....RUN AWAY!

Depends on how she feels about military school.

It seemed to work for the Brady Bunch. Of course, those darn kids got into all sorts of mischief. And the dad was gay and nobody knew it.
