If that’s true, and the OP article is legit, you have to like what it says about the player. He had a shot to sign with the Jets and play out the string on a contract. With the Chiefs, he’s only guaranteed playing time until Butker returns. The decision was a gamble and this means he’s betting on himself. He’s also looking at KC’s track record of specialist development. Right now, the three best punters and best kicker have played for or are playing with the Chiefs. Hes gambling that he’ll develop and showcase his skills with the champs and that will land him an opportunity far greater than the Jets were offering.

And he gets to get a Superbowl ring and gets to meet Taylor Swift!

While funny, let's see how he does before laughing too much. His college stats aren't exactly encouraging.

Was wondering the same.. this story doesn’t make much sense based on my limited understanding of practice squad elevation..

These days, you can elevate a PS player for up to 3 games without moving them to the active roster.

When that happens, they're paid the active minimum salary for the game I believe.

It’s a wait and see situation for sure. Looking at the Jets transactions, it doesn’t really seem like the article’s hypothesis is all that true. While Zuerlein is out on IR, they needed some combination of kickers to bridge the gap, but they didn’t want to sign a contract. They ran through Riley Patterson, the guy KC just signed, and now they’re rolling with Anders Carlson for a few games.

Butker was a 70% kicker in college.

OMG, that is beyond hilarious.

Butker has been dealing with this issue since early on but was still getting through. He probably could have played through the season and taken care of this after winning the Super Bowl. But then Veach sees this young kicker available on the Jets PS and thinks, why not? So, Butker suddenly goes on IR and we pick up some unknown kicker. Everyone is worried about what is going on but really the only reason Butker went on IR at this time is because Veach was able to poach another young kicker off of a PS.

Naw, Veach was pissed off that Butker kickoff was penalized against the Broncos near end of game giving up field position. Could of cost us. ROFL

The Jets are the new Browns. People shit in their privy at night so they don't have to dig a new one at home

Yeah and he had a year where you had to cross your fingers and hope he made the extra point kicks.

But then he became incredible.

Yeah. Now the rest of.the fanbases are whining about the league helping us.

Bump 11-16-2024 02:52 PM

That's pretty funny, thanks Jets!

Ok, thanks for the info. That makes sense.

Pretty risky move for a franchise that hadn’t had a kicker make a 40+ yarder all season lol

EDIT: Sorry, read the article wrong. They had ONE 40+ yard kick prior to elevating this guy for a game.

Jets fans seem mighty pleased about this turn of events... :D

Apparently they elevated him but forgot to get him a contract so he wasn’t signed to the 53. Even though he was their plan for a starting kicker.

That might be funnier than Failway losing Dumerville because he’s too stupid to send a fax.

lol incredible levels of incompetence
