Met Joe Phillips at an elementary school his daughter was attending in 95 and he was really nice. Other than being the biggest mountain of a man I have ever met in person he was just like any other dad there. Seriously looked like a block of granite.
Brief encounter with Brett at an indoor baseball training facility back in the 90's when I was still playing baseball in a men's league. Pretty full of himself, but didn't see anything surprisingly dickish. John Mayberry on the other hand was super nice laid back and cool, and stopped by my cage to give me some pointers. |
Found one iteration of the Commercial: It was filmed in Lawrence because they wanted to use the entrance to the Haskell football stadium (the shot of the big cement arch with the kids). The last scene where Bo is showing the kids how to swing the bat was in my front yard. They liked the tree with all the low branches so they moved over and did it in our yard.

I met that Mahomes dude in the spring of '18 when he was at Tyreek's charity basketball deal at Rockhurst. We were able to walk right to him and say hi. My kid got a card signed but I just shook his hand and chatted a few minutes. He was pretty cool.

There’s been several but a couple of sports people that stand out are:
Dontari Poe in Scottsdale at a chipotle while he was still a Chief. Was training and super cool dude. Chuck Liddell At Lego Land. Was over the top nice stand next to him in line. Took pics and just couldn’t be nicer. Maybe cause he was with his kids? Still very nice |

I've met quite a few but the most famous was probably Dennis Hopper. Super cool. |
Going into the way back machine - Joanna Kerns. It was at Vail and as I came off the ski lift, someone asked me if I would take a picture for them. This was back so far they handed me an actual camera. So I was doubly pissed when I recognized her and she was snotty to me even though I was doing her a favor.

I've met a handful. I always think its kind of weird meeting someone famous and somewhat uncomfortable/awkward. I've decided it's cooler to admire people from a distance.
Anyhow, the only negative one I had was also George Brett. Not to pile on the guy but he was an asshole. We were eating at a restaurant on the plaza before homecoming in the 90s (started with a V but I can't remember the name of the place). He and Lisa were there and a few of us went to his table to say hi and he flipped out. Essentially told us to **** off and leave him alone. Didn't make me dislike him or anything though. |
Met Mr T at Walmart in Liberty years ago… He was very nice but his wife was annoyed I walked up to them..

I worked with Kirstie Alley and Gary Busey on two separate shows at the Orpheum in Wichita.
Both are/were absolute dickheads of the 9th degree. |
