By all accounts, he was a good human being but also an awful POTUS. At the very least he won't go down in history as the worst President of modern times in this country.

RIP Mr. President

RIP to a God fearing man and humanitarian. I saw him in passing as well. I waved at him. He was nice enough to wave back. I was also in the same place, at the same time, as Nixon and Truman. Nixon couldn't see me so I didn't wave at him. Truman was unable to see me or wave at me as he was in a casket.

I was not fond of his presidency, but he was a good man. RIP

If you guys both look kind of like Jimmy Carter, I wonder if you waved at each other.

100 years is a long life, still sorry to hear he passed. RIP.

I think I was taller than Carter when I was 10. :D

Scooby do can doo-doo but Jimmy Carter is smarter

When I remember Jimmy Carter I think of long gasoline lines at fuel stations, failed hostage rescue, 16% to 18% interest rates, generic foods in grocery stores and a nation with zero confidence.

Seemed like a likable guy in later years

RIP

Carter was 5'10" which is slightly taller than I am. Sorry to quash your hypothesis, Mr. Rain Man.

I changed my stance a bit on Carter and Reagan when I read the Ben Barnes statement that he and John Connolly went to Iran and offered a deal if Iran wouldn't release the hostages until after the election, promising that the Republicans would give them a better deal.

Think about that. We had Americans being held illegally as prisoners by a foreign country, their lives under constant threat, and American politicians lobbied for them to be imprisoned longer in order to win an election. Carter was working for the good of the American people, and Barnes and Connolly (not sure if Reagan knew) were trying to get Americans' illegal foreign imprisonment to last longer.

Ben Barnes and John Connolly deserve to be lined up against a wall and shot. They are the most despicable villains in American history.

If you haven't read it, here's a random article, but there are a bunch out there: https://www.texasstandard.org/storie...ober-surprise/

I've always had a good impression of Reagan, but if he knew about this, he moves to the very bottom of my list of presidents.

Edit: I probably should put this in the DC version, so we can delete if needed.

My Dad was involved in politics back when Jimmy Carter was running and I have a picture of them together.

RIP Mr. Carter

He didnt have the most successful presidency but he was highly successful in caring for his fellow man. Building houses with his own hands so poor people can have a roof over their heads into his 90's.... that's a successful life post his presidency.

Nixon told the Vietnamese to not make a deal until after the election. They will get a better deal. Johnson fed the American public a lie in the Gulf of Tonkin to escalate the war. Presidents do some dirty shit on us. At least Carter didn't lie to us to get a policy they wanted to happen. Pretty low bar but the reality of the presidency.
