Ouch, hate see this one too!
RIP! |
After he got beat by Ali, he somehow met my uncle. My uncle lived in Rogersville Missouri. He was a southern Baptist preacher there and Mayor. Had a good sized congregation. He invited George to come visit. Foreman lived at my uncles house and learned how to put together a sermon for about 6 weeks.
I was living overseas so I didn’t get to meet him. By all accounts, he was a down to earth nice guy. RIP George |
Love that guy... RIP

Shocking news of his passing, I didn't realize he was 76. RIP George |
I loved big George and was fortunate to attend a Domino’s Pizza worldwide rally in Vegas in the early 2000s. Never forget how he opened “you all ever hear about the Rope a dope? I was the dope.”
Dude was terribly charismatic and from all accounts kind soul (except in the ring). RIP |
RIP
|
I never met him but know people who have. By all accounts, he was a kind and gentle person outside of the ring and one of the all-time greats inside the ring. RIP

Great, great American!
He's one of those guys who you just knew was genuine and the real deal. RIP, Champ. |
The George Foreman Grill crawled so the Air Fryer could run. RIP George Foreman.

RIP GF, loved watching your fights, and specifically remember the crossed arm "crab" defense technique.
And so passes yet another legendary human being. |
One of my all-time favorite boxers. Master of the walking uppercut and hard-hitting hands of stone. Especially his jab. RIP

Having worked there during the peak sales days I can tell you that the single burger and double burger model pretty much went directly from the docks to the warehouse of all the major big box stores. The 4 burger model were the favorite when sold to family homes but the smaller 1 and 2 burger model was the favorite of the college crowd and young singles. |

Great George Foreman moment:
Huge brawl at Madison Square Garden during the Riddick Bowe - Andrew Golota fight in 1996. George Foreman is calling the fight with Larry Merchant and Jim Lampley. After four low blows from Golata, an all out riot breaks out. Waves of people jump in the ring. Haymakers are being exchanged everywhere. Things are being thrown all over. George Foreman steps in and protects his two coworkers from the mob. In the background, you hear him saying something along the lines of, “Don’t do it son. Don’t do it.” Larry Merchant later thanked George Foreman for saving his life. If I was jumping into a melee like that and heard someone tell me “Don’t do it son.” And then looked up to see George Foreman standing before me…. I would immediately head to the nearest church and thank the Lord for not letting me die that night. |
