If KSU wins on Saturday, I'll say it was a great job. You're ranked and should beat KU.
If you lose- KU only looks that much better and you've one again got nothing to talk shit about a school that has more tradition and prestige than both schools combined.

Really, it's just wasted breath. I've seen KU in person once this season, and followed the rest of the games. If they win, great job for Mangino. If not- it's not the end of the world.

As for the picture above- it was meant as a joke to start with, by a couple of very good LB's. Banks Floodman, Kevin Kane and Nick Reid made up a pretty damn good LB core, but whatever.

First of all KU has no Football tradition unless being awful and impotent is a tradition. Secondly, KU's football fanbase leaves at halftime to go to the wheel. KSU's Football tradition and history is checkered but they have been and will continue to be a national power while KU tries to find it's own dick with both hands. Silly KU football fans think a good basketball team and a pretty campus means tradition.

This game should be a classic!

It won't be a classic unless you think KSU ass raping your QB on the 50 yard line is classic.

Great, KU is the 100 year champion of the toilet bowl. Congrats, KSU has moved on.

It's going to be a great game, probably the best one the two teams have had in a really long time.

First of all I'm a Wichita State fan who supports K-State football because my school doesn't have a team. I don't own anything that is purple. Get it straight.

The only thing worse than KU football are their pathetic fans. See you at the wheel Rock Chicken.

What an idiot. As if KU needs more motivation to play K-State now you question their manhhod, smarts, and say there is no comparison between the teams? I really like they way this kid plays, but I can't stand when guys do this. Every time you really start liking an athlete they go and pop off something stupid like this. I'd like to think if Ron Prince saw this he's say something to this kid. This is just stupid.

I think "bulletin board material" is over-rated. KU is already playing the disrespect card, I doubt this adds any additional motivation.

If this game were in Lawrence, I'd be concerned. It's not, so I'm not.

Anyong Bluth 10-03-2007 02:28 PM

NO history? John Riggins, Gayle Sayers, Dana Stublefield, Mike McCormick... AND you have a LOSING record to KU by almost 2-1!!!

NO tradition? KU - MU is the 2nd oldest rivalry in college football.

You may have turned the corner, but you've lost to KU the last 2 years.

I just don't get these K state fans that pop off like they are part of some college football lore. Maybe its to compensate and offset KU's basketball glory, but its absurd. You had a nice couple of years, and choked in the 1 year you could have even maybe had a shot at the NC.
It'd be like me completely dissing K state's former basketball success.
You can't talk shit on a team that doubled you over in wins historically.

If you win on Saturday, I'm not gonna be some pissy loser, running around spouting off about how they're gonna fire up the combines for a parade and have a hoedown to celebrate that night. Grow up, and be a fan of your team and stop looking to point to us, "chickenhawks," If you don't like the fact that many people accuse KU fans of dismissing KSU as a dirty hick cousin school don't retort with "just cuz' ya got a nice campus!"
WTF?

Best of Luck to you on Saturday. I hope it's a good game! GO 'Hawks!

Nope, that is not good enough. If KSU is sooooo much better than KU (as was insinuated), then homefield would not mean much. And it certainly wouldn't mean KU pretty much doubling KSU's score. A perfect example would be the whoopings that KSU put on KU in Lawrence during the Terry Allen years.

KSU was not better than KU was during 2004 to 2006, becuase the talent wasn't there, compared to the 2003 and earlier K-State teams. The only reason why K-State won in 2005 was that the game was in Manhttan, combined with Mangino's piss-poor road record.

Not to mention that Mangino recruting skills are a hell alot better than Terry Allen's. It just seemed to me that Allen was only recruting Division I-AA players to try to fit into the D-I level, which is a recipie for disaster, which was evidenced by the beatdowns that K-State provided in the late 90's to early 00's.

Oh, since you haven't answered my question about when was the last KU team to win in Manhattan, it was in 1989.

I think the biggest reason was Josh Freeman turning the ball over 6 times. Then it was Jon Cornish running for 200+ yards.

By that logic, OU and CU are comparible programs because Colorado beat OU at home?

K-State had a first year coach last year and they were coming off one of the biggest upsets of the year last year. Is it a coincidence that KU continues to schedule their bye week the week before the K-State game?

Our recruiting was pretty bad from 2002-2006. Don't know what happened.

KU won in Manhattan in 1989. Before that? 1976. 2 wins in the past 30 years. However, if they are going to do it, the time is NOW. I don't see KSU getting any worse in the next few seasons.

I think it's a combination of things, that Snyder may had stuck around a little too long after 2003, but also the fact that Oklahoma got good and Texas got good, as well as assistant coaches under Snyder, who has excellent recruting skills left as well.

OU was good before 2003. So was Texas. The recruiting was just not there.

Compare our team from 2004 to today. I mean, Dylan Meier - seriously? :shake:

They were good before 2003, yes. That's where K-State had some of their assistants (Bob Stoops anyone?) bailed out on K-State in 98, which severed some of their recruiting in Texas and Florida. I can't recall when Bennett moved on to SMU, but he also had strong ties to Texas as well.

Oh, this K-State team is a hell alot better than 2004. I mean, Dylan Meier shouldn't even been QB'ing, let alone be on the D-I level.

Yeah, I know. A guy at my wife's work had 3 tix for sale. He couldn't go this weekend so he sold them to us. When she first asked me if I wanted them, I'll admit I was hesitant. MM hasn't given me much reason to be confident with his teams' abysmal road record in the conference (or even outside the conference). But since she is a KSU fan as well as her dad, she decided to get them whether or not I wanted to go. Basically, I'm going whether I like it or not. Even if KSU wins, I hope for a competitive game. If it isn't, then I'll be ready to kick the fat man out of town.

I thought I established that about 3 pages back. Chiefaroo is your typical degenerate bandwagon fan. Like I said earlier, I'm sure real KState fans love his ignorant sh*ttalking.

I'd really love to see him drive onto campus if KSU wins and light a Jayhawk on fire. The good thing that would come from that is that we'd never have to read another post from him again.

which really sucked because there were about 50 of us out in Vegas for the Florida basketball game. we had our own room at the ESPNZone and KU really laid an egg in that one. of course, last year's pass defense against MU was a terrible matchup.

I'd really love to see him drive onto campus if KSU wins and light a Jayhawk on fire. The good thing that would come from that is that we'd never have to read another post from him again.

Eh, I wouldn't let him bother you that much. Actually, I think he is alright for the most part. His little spats with Skip can be quite comical. And I tend to agree with him on a lot of other topics. It's just when he goes into his little KU hatred commentary that he is a dumb ass. Frankly, he's all talk when it comes to KU. He wouldn't dare light a Jayhawk on fire at the KU campus.

KU booted his ass is what the problem is with him.

Saul, just talked the wife. She tells me that our tix are section 4, row 9. I looked it up on KSU's website. They look to be pretty darn good seats. :)

I am not a Williams Fund donor. Last time I tried to get tickets to an away game through KU, they told me that was a requirement. Maybe their policy has changed this year, but I really doubt it. Sweet Lew is all about the $$$

I think they sometimes make the remaining tickets available to us common folk, but they don't exactly announce. I tried to get the returned allotment when KSU sold them last week, but that was also a bust.

He personally doesn't bother me. I am not sure how someone on a message board can really "bother" anybody. Like you said though, it's just his moronic talk about KU. I mean if it was good trash talking, I could appreciate it. But it's not even good, so it just annoys me.

But since she is a KSU fan as well as her dad, she decided to get them whether or not I wanted to go. Basically, I'm going whether I like it or not. Even if KSU wins, I hope for a competitive game. If it isn't, then I'll be ready to kick the fat man out of town.

Geez Lz, you're actually going?

I've been reading posts from phognet that say Manhattan is like Falluja for Hawk fans.. Every Hawk fan on that board has either been knocked out cold, or had beer thrown on them, or had their car vandalized, or their grandmother attacked by those mean, terrible Wildcat fans.

They threw a silo at me.

Heh. They sound like Oakland Raiderz fans. I would imagine those KU fans that have had problems may have been acting obnoxious and deserve it. But who knows, college rivalries can get carried away. I am not the obnoxious type of fan so I'm not too concerned.

I'm am scared to do it. If I did, I'd probably be surrounded by KU guys and they'd be so mad they'd give me a bad makeover.

Yes, I would for the right price.

BWillie 10-06-2007 12:44 PM

well i am leaving to my buddies funeral, i mean wedding. when i get back it better be 5-0 for my jayhawks. either way, no way you all can continue doubting these jayhawks. they are tough. i'm going to be like the guy in the cell phone commercials that has to have his buddy block people out so i can use my cell phone to see the score.

on our road to 10-2, go hawks!

I'm sure we'll be hearing Jack Harry telling us over & over again that he predicted them to go 10-2 this week....

GO 'Hawks!

Very well said. I will add that we had to actually park in a freakin' pasture today. WTF? We actually had to drive on a dirt road around some barns and park about 50 bazillion miles away from the stadium in a pasture, going through those gates that they use to keep livestock in. WTF, KSU? No wonder people call you a hick school. Why not build some actual parking lots. It's obvious that you have insufficient parking at your football games.

BTW, the KSU fans I was around today at the game were decent. Are the people posting on phog.net 12 years old or something?
