Err, it seems to me the rivalry (although) they never played between the cowboys and the Texans is one of the reasons the AFL was founded in the first place.

In order to be DCS I'd have had to rack up 70 posts per day since last August.

Not possible. You have to be Crazy Coffey n00b nuts to pull that off....and sustaining it for eight months? Forget it.

Well said.

All of the old AFL teams are wearing their old AFL jerseys. I don't see either the shock or disappointment that we are wearing our original uniforms.

I heard that 810 was rambling on about this today. I suspect that some of you complaining have been listening to Kietzman, or, more likely, are Kietzman.

Um, he WANTED the Texans/Chiefs to be a new franchise in the NFL. The NFL said "no", so he created his own league.

THEN the NFL gave the nod to Clint Murchison out of spite who hired Landry, stole Meredith, and created the Cowboys.

Not all true. NFL awarded Dallas a franchise but before they gave it to Murchinson they offered it to Hunt knowing if he took it the AFL would die. But Hunt stayed loyal to his AFL friends. Thats when Murchinson got the Cowboys and the rest is history.

Messier 03-24-2009 08:21 PM

The logos and uniforms are from they year these teams won the AFL championship. Although not all the teams won the title. The Texans won the AFL championship in 1962. This is the uniform they wore in 62. Clark Hunt isn't trying to anger Chiefs fans.

I was never a fan of the Dallas Texans. I would never ever, ever be a fan of the Dallas Texans. I appreciate Lamar taking the team out of that hole and giving us a team in my part of the country. That doesn't mean I have to like a state of Texas sticker on my teams helmet... since I can't stand the place.

I understand perfectly why they're doing it and I don't even actually have a real problem with it. I just hate Texas and have no allegiance to the dufunct Dallas Texans. **** the Dallas Texans. I prefer the Kansas City Chiefs. They aren't the same thing in my book.

The good thing is it's just a freakin football team logo and history. It's not like it matters. No ones burning the flag or hanging a cross upside down. I just think Texas sucks and the uniforms are ugly.

Odds are, you'd win that bet... but it wouldn't have a damned thing to do with the ****in' outfit our team wears when facing theirs.

If you wanna get all superstitious, you could say the ghost of Lamar will smile on the Chiefs, and they'll pound the shit out of his old AFL/NFL rival.

No, 49ers use a darker red. Anyway, who gives a shit? I've never liked the yellow. If they want to call it gold use GOLD. That's the one change I would instantly make to our uniforms were it in my power.

It has nothing to do with an "inferiority complex." (And what do you care? Shouldn't you be hanging out somewhere on Hotel Street this time of day/evening?)

As I said before, the Chiefs were only "Texans" for 3 years. They've been the "Kansas City Chiefs" for over 40. The Chiefs were in the AFL longer than the Texans. The emblem is just a dumb idea.

Now if this whole thing was to honor the ORIGINS of the Chiefs, then you'd have an argument. BUT IT'S NOT: It's to honor the AFL. By doing this, you're telling the city and state that has supported the franchise for these many decades that the ONLY choice for a throwback uni includes a hemet emblem of another state that accounts for a tiny percentage of the franchise's history. I don't get that. We're not talking about the Tennessee Titans and Houston here. Come on now.

Hey, I'm not writing my congressman and I'm more concerned about the Chiefs winning a playoff game. Bit it's the thread topic and I think it's a stupid idea. That's all.
