Just a reminder is was Jack Harry and Gene Fox that did the story. Don was on vacation that week. During the story one of the two called Marty a liar, and that sent it over edge. Don and Carl did have run in's but the Okoye story was not one of them. Don called out Carl for taking away the free media travel on the team charters, and for getting rid of the pre game invocation.

Once the truth came about about the Okoye story, Jack and Gene couldn't recover. From then on it was Jack vs. Carl for 20 years.

Christian had this whole I'm waiting to get married before sex story. Well he wasn't yet married and his wife to be had a miscarriage. Carl and Marty wanted to protect their guy. Jack and Gene made up a story and got busted.

No. In fact a few years ago (2 or 3 maybe 5) a caller on the radio called Jack out about the story and he said something to the effect of...there may have been other factors the Chiefs were trying to hide from the public, but I stand by the fact a bigger contract was involved. The Shanahan thing was hilarious. How Kietz had a mini rant about how the national media weren't giving poor old small-town Jack Harry credit, and Jack Harry called in to have his ego stroked. Then the whole thing fell apart. Then even when it was obvious it was never going to be Shanahan Kietz was still interviewing some NFL writer in the days after and saying, "Well, maybe this Shanahan thing isn't dead. Maybe it's still coming." and the guy was like, "yeah, no."

I was absolutely ****ing livid when Herm got fired and then two seconds later ESPN says Shannahan to KC. It should have been a joyous day and instead ESPN ****ed it up.

Jack was on with KK this afternoon. It was a giant ass kiss fest between Jack and KK. KK was still ripping on George and trying to get Jack to say something about George being a bad guy. Did you hear george on KK yesterday? He was back tracking a bit they both agreed that from what George critized the media was the same as the media does to hillman. I had to disagree with george he said the easiest thing to do is for fans media to sit back and say "this this and this" when shit goes wrong, that you would have done things different. For how much of an ass KK, Clinkscale, petro can be. Even when shit works they state facts to back up why they would have done shit different and what was wrong with the moves. Well, Pioli would have them killed outright, so no-go there. I'm guessing their beef with the Royals has to do with bad game management, much in the same way Herm was just a god-awful field general. I don't know or follow baseball at all, but I'm guessing there isn't as much parity in the MLB system as there is in the NFL.
The Royals market doesn't help much either I'm guessing. It's probably hard to get good players to come to KC, so when a guy like Greinke starts to pop, the fans and the media start getting pissed because everyone around the "star" isn't playing up to his level.
And hardcore MLB fans are more vitriolic than football fans, and have been that way for a long time.

Milwaukee has MLB, Jacksonville has NFL. Jacksonville has 1.3 Million people, Milwaukee has 950,000. MLB defines a city over the NFL. Baseball players and management know that and play it out. It has always been that way and it will always be that way. The media plays the same game as well.
