I talked to a rep yesterday, and you can still get season tickets in row 2 or 3 in every upper deck end zone section at that end of the field.

So (most of) our group books in advance and has to buy another ticket, while some slapdick Jackson County resident can buy seats in the 3rd ****ing row of the same section we're in.

Every Pro and College team in America set aside the crappy seats for groups. Easier to put larger numbers together, and it is easier to get rid of single tickets or 2 together in row one or two.
You should learn about the business model of sports and ticket sales before you bitch.

Ahhh shit man, I didn't know that. I can see if I can change my flight if that helps you out? Maybe I can fly back out of KC or StL if someone else can get me to the airport.

Dude, you're talking about an organization that is lucky to get 30k per game and has nothing but open seating behind the 2nd row of the upper deck in the end zones - where we're sitting.

The business model you described is understood and expected in a market like New York or Boston where tickets are at a premium.

Not in a market where over half of the stadium is empty after season tickets are accounted for.

And FTR, I know of at least one pro team that doesn't use that strategy - and they sold out 30+ of 41 home dates last year while missing the playoffs.

I'm sure their customer service and willingness to put the fan first had nothing to do with it.

Yes, JC residents have always had the first opportunity to buy any REMAINING tickets to single games.

I've never been witness to them setting aside better seats for the general public sale, however - and that is what I'm arguing.

so are you assuming that this hasnt happened every year?

**** you, Chiefs.

A group like ours should have the opportunity to have their seat location upgraded the day before single game seats go onsale. Otherwise, there's no benefit to buying this far in advance, only to be sitting 10 rows back of where we could be.

All I am saying is when it comes to single game tickets they should get first crack at them and I am sure the Chiefs have set some decent seats aside for them as well.

Of course not.

But what does that have to do with what we're talking about - setting better seats aside for JC residents?

The Chiefs could have easily done the right thing and put our group of 20 in the 4th and 5th row of any section in that price range. And there would still be section after section with seats in row 3 and back available for JC residents.

This game isn't going to come 20 seats from selling out on Thursday.

It was going on long prior to 2006. I know it was happening in the early 90s, but don't know exactly when it started.

According to the tax that JC residents passed by themselves mind you they get first crack at all tickets and don't have to pay the parking surcharge.

It hasn't happened every year.

From 2006 back to the Marty era, they sold over 70k season tickets, and all that was left to JC residents was the shittiest seats.

As someone who has been begged year after year to renew my season tickets, I can only go by what I've been told by the reps I've talked to - who claim this never was the case before this offseason. Season ticket holders always had the opportunity at the best seats, followed by groups if applicable.

The ST base has shrunk, which would open more seating to groups based on the past was of doing things. The rep I spoke with yesterday basically said that last year, had there been 20 seats available together in lower rows, they would have offered them.

They've been instructed not to do so this year.

Had they been upfront with Nzoner at the time of the sale, I'd be OK with it.

But to be told that rows 11 and 12 are the best they can do, when it obviously isn't, is pretty shady - especially considering they made us buy tickets to a second game to even get those seats.

Adding to the insult is the shitty CS Nzoner got to begin with. 3-4 days to return a phone call, when you're desperate as an organization to sell tickets?

They better rape the fan for all they can for MNF, because it's back to 30-35k per game after that.

Exactly.

The goalposts are getting moved here.

This isn't about JC residents getting first crack at any REMAINING seats.

It's about the Chiefs holding back seats in better locations for JC residents and the general public instead of offering seats first come, first served.

$64, IIRC.

The basic point here is that Nzoner was forced to buy tickets to another game. They should allow him to alter that order now that this new information is out there. This is a huge screwjob to his group.

Titty Meat 07-07-2010 06:03 PM

I know when I bought my tix the sales rep gave me a link to where I can order them off the Chiefs site. It also had a bunch of corporations listed so my guess is most of the tickets will be bought by corporations and the scalpers will buy the rest.

I don't see One Arrowhead Drive agreeing to any kind of refunds so I'll just say fock it and go with what I got and hope to hell the team can do enough to at least make that Denver game worth a trip.

This year? I don't know.

I know that in the past, you could as long as it was prior to the tickets being printed. In my 5 years as a STH, I moved seats twice over the summer. One year I just happened to call them and ask, and I moved 4 rows closer, and the following year I was able to switch back to my preferred end of the stadium in late June, IIRC.

My guess is you'll be lucky to get them, but it's worth a shot. After county residents get through so they have plenty to scalp I imagine season ticket holders will take up most of what is left. Opportunities to turn a profit on tickets haven't been really plentiful in the last few years, and demand for this one will be high.

OnTheWarpath15 07-08-2010 10:04 AM

An hour in, and the Jackson County residents are really gobbling up tickets.

Sarcasm, folks.

The same tickets I spoke of earlier are still available per both KCChiefs.com and the rep I just got off the phone with.

When asked if the ticket office has been busy this morning, he casually danced around the subject.

Whoops.

Need 8 seats together? In the lower level?

How's section 132, Row 16 sound?

I'm not kidding.

jspchief 07-08-2010 10:11 AM

Someone needs to send the FO a memo informing them that it's not 1995 anymore.

Let's be honest...Chiefs tickets are not selling and the FO is starting to panic there may be empty seats for a Prime Time home opener. Sure the game will be called a sellout, but sponsors are already being asked for ticket commitment.
Step one lower parking for both games...knowing tailgaters want to get in early.
Step two make Jackson County feel the love.
Step three make it look as if there is a run on tickets, so you can sell more season tickets.

That is probably because in order for them to buy tickets they have to show up at Arrowhead with a tax receipt in hand. Now I am not saying there would be a huge increase but it is a real inconvenience.

Personally, I would call.

I've learned that the online ticketing rarely offers you the best seat.

Old Dog 07-09-2010 09:54 AM

I just called and they're only doing the 2-pack thing online. Ended up with 4 seats in section 303, row 30 on the aisle for the Chiefs game.

ClearmontChief 07-09-2010 10:02 AM

What a sham!

You can't just buy the 2-pack parking without purchasing additional game tickets.

I'm a Chiefs season ticket holder, and bought quality tickets the Royals game really early hoping for a time change. It did, great...but

I'll have to buy parking at Royals gate, then exit, re-enter and pay Chiefs parking! (I spoke to the ticket agents). I'm handicapped and allowed to park up close anyway, so I just pay Chiefs parking at the gate. They told me I'd still be allowed to park up front, but I'd have to exit after Royals game and re-enter and work my way back up to the front.

Total of $292 for the tickets alone (went with the cheapest Royals tickets since I will sit in the Loge Box for the Royals game)
and then total for two of the parking passes was $56.
the additional fees are fairly reasonable IMO.

wtf, those are great seats. I looked at about 1:30 and didn't see anything even close to that. just 307 and 131.

did you get them on-line?

well that's pretty f**ked. I'm gonna have you order tickets for me from now on, because apparently the Chiefs website likes your computer a lot more than mine.

I hate ordering on-line because I don't seem to agre with their version of "best available". Upper level on the 40 is 100x better than lower level in the corner.

I was able to find a pair for section 344. I wonder why it was giving me corner seats before. oh well, I don't care, I've got seats anyway.

I wasn't arguing with seats damn near midfield, just hit accept and paid for it

had some near midfield again. the person i'm buying with isn't sure if he's moving yet and if he can make the game so I never bought them. I will probably end up paying more for worse seats later. :cuss:

Bought my tickets today. Sorry if it has been discussed. Does anybody know what time the chiefs gate will open on 9/13. Thanks!

There's a graphic in post #88 if you want to try to make any sense out of it.

I will be staying at a hotel close by and walking. I figure the Royals game will end around 5:10. The Chiefs game starts at 9:15. The gates open like 3 hours early or something right? Therefore I was hoping I could just walk from the Royals game over to the Chiefs.

I would assume if you're on foot you can go over whenever the hell you want.

I got mine in section 322. Way high though. I suppose that is pretty good for having waited so long. I was on Ticketmaster right at 10:00 CDT yesterday though chomping at the bit.

I just got my tickets in the mail a few days ago. Section 108
