I'm glad to hear your ordeal is as over as it can be. What a horrible nightmare. :shake:

The coward who was hired to killed my brother, his wife, and their sister-in-law received TWO life sentences without the possibility of parole. (My brother's wife was on a business trip and wasn't home at the time.)

The reason we did not go for the death penalty, and believe me, we all wanted these cowards to die. But the reason is that there was a 6 year-old girl in the house at the time. She witnessed the brutal murders of her mother and her uncle (my brother.) She's already been traumatized enough and will likely have nightmares for a very long time. So we accepted their plea deals instead.

The driver got TWO sentences of 24 years each. I'm not happy about this at all. I feel like he should have received life- he is an accessory to this and knew what was going on in my brother's house and just sat there and watched. 48 years is nothing. The choice he made to drive a murderer an hour to my brother's house is a choice that cost him 48 years in prison. Should have been life in my opinion. I will be sure to show up at ALL of his parole hearings and make absolutely certain he never gets parole.

The guy who hired everyone and lied to the police got 48 years.

The two dumb chicks who helped to burn evidence and kept information from the police only received two years probation each. I'm very upset with this. I wanted a more severe punishment and some jail time. A lot of jail time. Like it or not, they were accessories to this crime.

One of them showed up at the plea hearing yesterday and the court threw her out. Yeah!

I presented the court my impact statements yesterday and I certainly didn't waver on what I wanted to convey to these cowards. It was a profound rant fueled with rage and the fact that these guys are already dead to me.

The judge was awesome. I have nothing but great respect for that judge and the comments he made and the judgments he handed down.

It's all over now. The clouds have parted. I feel free and purified now. Time to dance again.

Talk about a ITRL? moment. I'm glad you got as much closure, as possible.

Always here if you need anything.

While the two women who helped destroy evidence seemed to get off really easy, they'll get their just due in some other way. People who hang out with criminals eventually get burned, and it'll happen.

This.

I can tell you this for certain, anyone would be proud of your positive attitude in dealing with such adversity. I know when reading through this thread your overall attitude while dealing with such tragedy moved me, and is inspirational in getting through such a very difficult frozen in time moment.

My family and I wish you the best and thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May God continue to help you heal and continue to be such a positive role model for others. Continue to be stong for your family and most importantly for yourself.

God Bless~

Glad that part is over.

Now, I hope you and your family can honor your brother by getting back to living happy, fulfilling lives and appreciating the small things.

I hope you can get some enjoyment out of just worrying about the Chiefs and their weekly soap opera, and not have to deal with any more real-life trauma for a long time.
Hope the road gets sunnier for you here on out.

Will do, Doug.

I am not sure what it is, but I will say this- having that opportunity to address the court with my impact statements gave me the purifying release I needed.

Everything I ever wanted to say to those tools came gushing out- I held back nothing.

To me, I killed them all with my words. It felt liberating.
