Wasn't very impressed with Del Rio. That said, half this board would scream even if Pioli could somehow resurrect Vince Lombardi...

Lombardi isn't part of the tree. Pioli can't work with him.

ChiefFripp 01-06-2012 07:41 AM

I think they just have to fill a quota for interviewing white coaches. Romeo has the job.

Dayze 01-06-2012 08:27 AM

I think whichever coach they choose, it'll most definitely be a 'safe' choice. a proven coach. Not 'proven' in terms of a winning coach etc, but proven as in they (Chiefs) know what they're getting.

I don't think we'll see another Haley-type hire etc.
My $.02.

neither was I, but he always had a strong run game and defense. Just no QB.

How would Bellichek look with Byron Leftwich, David Garrard and Quinn Gray as his QB's??

Patriot fans would tell you he would transform anyone into an 11-5 season.

Pioli has earned the criticism. He came in with a lot of fanfare and proceeded to fail on his first 4 decisions.

1. HC
2. QB
3. Tyson Jackson
4. The rest of that draft class.

The reason I separated Jackson from the class is that the pick was so high, it had to be a home run. Fail.

Now we sit here waiting to see what he does next and all the clues point to hiring Crennel and bringing in McDouche. This is just so short-sighted and frustrating to hear. He has to make an impact hire, or the dude ends up a complete and utter failure.

That man has 5 Superbowl rings and coached on some of the best defenses in the NFL.

He's brought out the talent in guys like Hali, DJ, Carr and Flowers. It wasn't Haley. They sure as **** weren't playing like that for Pendergast.

He's united a team, they're all chanting his name.

He's won that team over in the midst of chaos and had them playing for a playoff spot.

And you wanna replace him with JACK ****ING DEL RIO????????

If I were Romeo, hell yeah i'd be pissed. I'd ****ing burn that place down if you chose JACK ****ING DEL RIO over me.

How many token white boys do they need to interview to satify the Rooney Rule? This is getting crazy.

I see.

Looks Pioli has already picked Romeo and now he's just spreading rumors to make it look like he was searching for another HC candidate.

Bravo Mr. Pioli, Bravo.

Jack Del Rio would be a "proven" coach in the way Rich Kotite would be a "proven" coach... a proven loser.

Jeff Fisher would be the perfect candidate if Pioli wants to go the safe, proven coach route.

Or it was just an unsubstantiated rumor that got jumped on by the media before any fact checking.

It seems it was only after it became apparent he wasn't coming you became his champion.

Somehow, I think if Fisher came to the Chiefs you'd find something you didn't like about him.

I would swap QB and HC. Why any GM would bring in a new QB before bringing in the new HC is just beyond me. Complete lunacy.

Jack Del Rio fired more of his staff than Haley ever dreamed of. Every time they had a crappy season (all but 2 yrs), he kept his job by firing the guys that worked so hard for him. He's a tool.

So either:
A. He has already been hired by the chiefs as head coach.
B. Pioli is laughing at chiefsplanet.

Or....

C. Rotoworld is coming up a BIG zero. Because I just linked on a post where they passed along the story that the Chiefs had already requested permission to speak to McShort Bus.

DTLB58 01-06-2012 08:22 PM

I can't imagine that after what went down between Del rio and Otis Taylor the Hunt family would even consider Jack for this position.

Ex-Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio will reportedly interview for the Chiefs' head-coaching vacancy on Friday.Del Rio compiled a 69-73 record over nine years in Jacksonville before becoming the first head-coaching casualty of the season in November. The Chiefs have already interviewed Packers OC Joe Philbin and ex-Titans coach Jeff Fisher, though neither is considered a legit candidate to be hired over interim coach Romeo Crennel. The Bad Guy 01-06-2012 10:37 PM

Truth of the matter is, the Chiefs have always tried to pass themselves off as this big class organization, but they are far from it. The shady dealings with Taylor, the way Hunt tried to charge the ticket takers, how they handle the media and the relentless way they try to protect their image, they reek of insecurities and that starts with the Hunt Family.

They are more consumed with presenting that "Arrowhead Magic" look on MNF than they are in human relations.

That is a completely baseless argument.

I have been advocating for Fisher to be the Chiefs next HC almost immediately since Haley was fired.

Would be nice to see a fresh bright mind on the sidelines instead of retreads, That would be my opinion if I were a fan...

I think the Chiefs gave up on Haley too soon, he needed a QB

That's just professional sports, man. Every new regime cleans house. I love Otis Taylor the player, and Otis the man seems to be a class act as well, but getting fired by a new GM that's bringing in his own staff is just the way things go.

If all those guys 'with rings' were doing a bang up job, the team wouldn't have been in the toilet.
