I wouldn't panic about Hosmer yet. There will be times these guys still look like young players. There was a time when Carlos Beltran hit .247 with 7 HR's his second season.

petegz28 04-17-2012 08:39 PM

Man we are just clutch, aren't we?

Cabrera 0 for 22 ended tonight. It happens. But what's most concerning he just hasn't looked comfortable.

Bambi 04-17-2012 08:39 PM

This team is as bad as ever.

alnorth 04-17-2012 08:43 PM

The Royals marketing was a little too aggressive. The future is bright, but THIS year we have the youngest team in the majors, our best pitching prospects are in the minors, and Detroit is a monster.

Shogun 04-17-2012 08:43 PM

Your kansas city reyoals!

mr. tegu 04-17-2012 08:43 PM

Are any of our hitters other than Billy ever ahead in the count?!

Best pitching prospects eh? All I see is Odorizzi.

Ever since I started posting in Royals GDT, you've always been the beacon of optimism. All I know is this team has regressed big time and looks like another 90+ loss season and I still don't see any hope any time soon.

stonedstooge 04-17-2012 08:45 PM

Swinging at way too many pitches out of the strike zone

Bambi 04-17-2012 08:45 PM

When are the Royals ever not young?

I call complete bullshit on this. Our pitching "prospects" are completely flaming out.

I agree. That being said they had been talking about 2012 for three years so they couldn't back off of that. Maybe something a little less pressure filled would have been appropriate though.

Odorizzi, Lamb, Montgomery, then a bunch who are better than scratch-off lotto tickets.

Seriously, it would be so fu king nice to be able to watch Royals baseball in May and know we are still in the race.c

Archie F. Swin 04-17-2012 08:48 PM

did that just say 102?

This season is ending even earlier than usual.

Eventually they are going to start giving the Royals automatic wins before the year starts just to make it interesting...it will set a new standard on just how quickly they can fade.

It's almost inspiringly bad.

Titty Meat 04-17-2012 08:50 PM

Wasn't Montgomery supposed to be up last year? He's been off my list for awhile.

lewdog 04-17-2012 08:50 PM

I didn't expect us to compete for a division title but I was expecting us to be within 5-10 games of .500 baseball. We look so much like shit that that is probably out of the question.

Shogun 04-17-2012 08:51 PM

next year is surely our time

Archie F. Swin 04-17-2012 08:51 PM

oh good, our best hitters are coming up

mr. tegu 04-17-2012 08:51 PM

How did we get only 1 run off Smyly?! I have been saying for a week now what's most frustrating is our hitting and not pitching. We know we will have some bad pitching stretches. But when we give up three or less we need to win!

He's just having trouble finding the strike zone lately. He'll get it. if anything bottom of the rotation guy. That seems bad considering his Hype, but id rather him turn into something. Duffy is nails

"Alex Gordon is the cornerstone of suck and as long as he's on this team things are never going to change."

That's what I believed up until last season.

Now that feeling has returned.

He shouldn't be OFF your list. He's usually ranked as our #3 pitching prospect this year in the minors. He's got control problems, but lots of talent.

mr. tegu 04-17-2012 08:55 PM

Rex said Mariano is starting to get hit around because guys are used to him. Maybe it's because he is like 50 years old Rex?

Bambi 04-17-2012 08:55 PM

What's the worst record for a team hosting the All Star Game in history?

Anyone know?

Shogun 04-17-2012 08:55 PM

pinch run getz

arrowheadnation 04-17-2012 08:56 PM

First it was, wait til Butler gets called up. Then it was wait til Gordon gets called up. Then the same story for Hosmer and Moustakas....now do we have to wait for Starling to be called up for it to be "our time"?

Your first two sentences do not make your point, AT ALL. Anyone who believed we would compete when Gordon and Butler came up, was either lying or delusional. We had way too many holes.

Its been only one season with Hosmer and Moose, and our pitching is not up.

Shogun 04-17-2012 08:59 PM

lololol

stonedstooge 04-17-2012 08:59 PM

mr. tegu 04-17-2012 09:00 PM

Too bad Butler can't hit behind himself. Maybe then we would string together some hits.

Bambi 04-17-2012 09:01 PM

joke

arrowheadnation 04-17-2012 09:01 PM

**** baseball. 3 months and 24 days until our first preseason game.....course, then we'll be saying **** football. It appears we have a VERY long and painful sports year ahead of us.

Bambi 04-17-2012 09:01 PM

Look at the Tigers. They are like real men.

Our team is a bunch of scrubs.

Hate baseball.

Al Bundy 04-17-2012 09:02 PM

Gordon is pressing big time.. the longer the losing streak goes the worse it will be. This really has the look of a double digit game losing streak.

Jerm 04-17-2012 09:02 PM

Wow Yost may not make it outta here at Kauffman alive lol.

Lynch mob.

Archie F. Swin 04-17-2012 09:03 PM

maybe we need to have Pena hitting 3rd

Shogun 04-17-2012 09:03 PM

I actually like when the Royals are bad, I just love being at the Ball park, cheap tickets, expensive beer, we win sometimes. Of course I'd like to feel what winning feels like, but I can't complain. If you don't have expectations you wont get disappointed. Its just funny to me all the time.

Our pitching is shockingly shallow on the farm, either due to injury or suckage, which is exactly why we should have been moving promising yet unproven arms for ML talent. But, hey, who could have possibly been suggesting that?

DM is a great GM. Totally understands ML roster management.

Al Bundy 04-17-2012 09:03 PM

and I get called a troll while guys like Alnorth are pumping "prospects, best pitchers are in the minors" sunshine.

ChiTown 04-17-2012 09:03 PM

So, how many straight losses at home before we get a win at the K? I'm guessing at least 7.

Three7s 04-17-2012 09:04 PM

I just can't til this Our Time crap keeps playing into August and we're looking at 100 losses. The Royals PR department needs to be fired, along with some upper management for making them actually believe it was "our time".

Deberg_1990 04-17-2012 09:04 PM

Its so nice that we have the best minor league system!

DeezNutz 04-17-2012 09:05 PM

3-8.

Our time.

arrowheadnation 04-17-2012 09:05 PM

Wow...lot of chatter on twitter about sending Hosmer back to Omaha (and he doesn't even live there!) I'm on the ledge, but come on, I don't think we're at that point yet.

Not really. This is the natural consequence of having a dog shit pitching staff; hitters press.
