Not really.

I've lived as a Royals fan long enough to see 7 post seasons (albeit I was young) 2 World Series' and one World Championship. Aids seems worse.

Ok.. so there are 2 of you. I think this team is one giant sack of shit, fortunately for the Royals the NFL Draft is coming up soon and apathy has started to set in.

DeezNutz 04-18-2012 09:02 PM

Having a hard time dealing with this shit this year. Apparently, I bought in to the "Our Time" bullshit more than I expected.

Just ****ing brutal. If this team continues to shit itself and then makes a run to .500 late, late in the year when all meaningful baseball is long over with, it will take a fool to put much stock in the results.

So those actually happened, right? They're not just a bunch of stories that everyone likes to tell to those of us who weren't around? This team was actually good at one point, right?

Right?

Well, you would know better than anyone what a giant sack of shit looks like.

stonedstooge 04-18-2012 09:03 PM

I won't give up until the day they are mathematically eliminated

DeezNutz 04-18-2012 09:04 PM

Vintage Royals would give up the run here and then score one in the bottom half.

Nightfyre 04-18-2012 09:04 PM

Well, got back in time to join the bottom of the eighth. yeesh.

petegz28 04-18-2012 09:04 PM

12 games into the season and we are looking to alreay be 6 games back

Al Bundy 04-18-2012 09:04 PM

As it stands now, this team needs to lose 100 games to get close to the number overall pick. This season is toast, and that is good for me because now I just won't get mad. I know the guys on this team just aren't good enough to win more games than they lose.

You and me both.... Never been this excited about Royals baseball & they rip my heart out before April's even over...

As for a fool putting stock in the results if they make a late run, I can guarantee I'll be one of those fools. I've gotta have something to believe in with this team.

tk13 04-18-2012 09:08 PM

I'm really not affected at all by this. I don't know. But I've said for two years now I think the window is 2014-2017 when guys like Hosmer and Moose actually have experience and then you have Starling and Myers to plug between them. No doubt this is a rough start though... but if they end up near .500, they end up near .500. Whether it's a terrible start and a great finish or a great start and a terrible finish, the result is the same. 100 losses would be disappointing though.

I think most of us thought they would be near .500, probably a few games under. If you thought this team was going to compete for a division title, that was probably dumb of you.

I don't think they are as bad as they are playing but everyone in underachieving at this point.

They're finding ways to lose...either we get bombed, run ourselves out of innings, passed balls, can't move runners, swing at bad pitches, look at good pitches...toss in the back-back hit batters for a loss and I think we have literally lost in just about every way you can

There are 150 games to go. Heck maybe we lose 120 of them, but we don't know yet. There have sure been enough times this team started 7-4 or 18-11 and looked great, and then drove right off the cliff into the ocean.

That may have been the 2nd most glorious moment in Royals history after Motley making the catch for the last out in the '85 series. I was 11 when Brett hit that homer. Upper deck at Yankee stadium and everyone knew it as soon as the ball left the bat.

Even though I give some of you young guys shit I have to hand it to Royals fans under 30. You guys have never really seen any good times (you were too young if you're under 30-35) but here you are watching and hoping and getting pissed off. I feel just as pissed off... maybe even moreso since I saw the glory days. If we ever do actually achieve "our time" you guys will really deserve the euphoria it will bring.

Go Royals.

I am 29. My best Royals memory was that I was in the left field bleachers for the "Harvey" game.

Seriously, that is my best Royals memory.

Edit: In case some of you don't remember that game, it was the season we started 9-0 or whatever our record was, and as the storms were rolling in that night at the K, Ken Harvey hit a walk-off homer in extra innings. For a few minutes the place felt magical.

Normally, I hate Kietz, but he's right. Royals stadium is a joke with all the advertising, the Royals PR is a joke, and worst of all, the Royals team is a joke. The instant Glass finds out that that his Walmart Royals were out-gained by a freaking soccer team, maybe he'll finally realize that what he's doing is never going to work and just sell the team.
