Beware Phog @bewarephog Damn refs RT @mellinger @BlairKerkhoff Bill Self resume of league finishes in career. Tulsa 3 1 1. Illinois 1 1 2. KU 2 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1. |
I think the greatest college accomplishment would be UF winning the NCAA tourney in 06 and 07 and winning the 2006 BCS Championship. Michigan also won the Big 10 and the Rose Bowl the same year they won the NCAA tournament in the 88-89 season. I think they came pretty close to doing the same thing when they had the fab five.

This has nothing to do with the rivalry but I absolutely hate shared championships. I don't understand why college conferences do this. There can be only one.

LMAO Congrats to kstater for a very successful thread. This one is good. The best of the year is easily the KU v. ISU game thread. That had it all. That was the thread that kept on giving. It seems the anchor has become buoyant. |

It's interesting that you posted what you did. Because that kind of thinking is what FINALLY gave impetus to the hiring of Bob Huggins. Obviously you weren't here at the time, but the move was quickly panned by the resident tards. And he delivered immediately. When he left and Frank was hired I remember the reerun that worked at 610 at the time Mascot, who would then start the Shiver or whatever website, said "you coulda had Mark Fox". Those were great days. My biggest worry is that Bruceketball will lead KSU back to the bad old days. |

Enjoy it this year guys. Take a look at your recruiting class for next year. Even TCU did better. Bruce is one hell of a coach. He just can't recruit.

10-0 vs. teams in Texas!
0-2 vs. teams in Kansas. |

I'd say the Grand Slam in Golf would probably be the greatest accomplishment in all of sport, probably because you don't have a team to rely on.
In terms of team sports, it is definitely in the top 25 percentile, but nothing near the "greatest". |
It's already been done by Texas and OU in Big 12 play. It's not all that rate or amazing. They need to do something in march. If they go to the FF they will start approaching KU 2008. Unfortunately they already lost their BCS game so even a title in hoops won't match it. Still an impressive year for kstate

Period. No. No. Period. You have no National Championships. You have no standing. STFD, SFTU. Argument over. You're dismissed. |
Probably not the greatest accomplishment in sports history, but definitely the greatest accomplishment in KS sports history. Of the latter there is simply no question.

Finishing in 3rd place in your conference without beating a ranked team all year isn't even in the same ball park as actually earning a Fiesta Bowl bid by winning your conference and beating 4 ranked teams(2 of them on the road).

Sagarin agrees it isn't close.

Either way, winning 9 straight conference championships in a major sport is by far the greatest accomplishment in the Midwest sports history. It's not even close. |

When is EMAW going to claim some Helm's titles and hang some "championship" banners?

The computers factored in KU's 2007 schedule in determining their #5 computer composite rating when the bowl bids were announced. Facts are kinda fun.

Here's what MU fans seem to forget or simply just can not understand. It's not KU's fault that MU's athletic director is an incompetent pos. KU's AD did what it took to make the selection committee select them over MU. Was it a bullshit decision? Of course, MU was a better team and beat KU that season. But hate the game, not the player. Had the right decision been made, it'd be MU fans pounding their chests about beating an ACC team, not KU fans. |
