This is true. Been seeing a lot more posts like this since the frenzy of the last week or so ended. Although personally, I think it has more to do with keeping Bowe and Albert than anything :)

One move I think would be interesting would be to bring Nate Washington over to KC. He's a good vet who's still relatively young (29) and is available for a late rounder. Would fit in nicely next to Bowe methinks.

The less the Niners asked Alex to do the better he looked. He had more yards per game n TDs per game under Sing/ Jimmy Raye tham Harbaugh.

He can't sit back and let his defence hold the other team to under 20 pnts here. His 175-200 yards and 1 & half TDs a game avg wont win many games.

he was throwing 225 yards per game and was on pace to throw for 26 tds...i don't think he's a game manager. he just makes goo ddecisiions. He can throw deep just watch highlight tape.

ChiliConCarnage 03-13-2013 03:54 AM

so 27 consecutive years without a quarterback the Chiefs drafted winning a game for them. Not a Super Bowl or playoff game. Just any game

and in what can only be an incredible coincidence we'll probably make it 20 and 21 consecutive years of not winning a playoff game

bringing in Alex Smith: Ok

Using a mid-late first round pick in trade value for Alex Smith as the QB of the future: **** Dorsey

Hopefully in some currently unimaginable way it ends up working out.

people are going to be surprised by this guy he has a chip on his shoulder and I have no doubt he wants to prove dumping him was a big mistake.

Are you kidding? He just had a concussion last year that kept him out several games and then that gave the opportunity to Kaepernic. So don't say he isn't prone to injury. It wont take much if he gets hit to get another or more concussions to put him on the sidelines.

In 2006 Alex Smith became one of the only QB's in the History of the NFL to start and play every single snap of the season. No other 49er in history has done it and only a few in the NFL, Brodie, Montana, Young, Garcia ect... As for him being injury prone you can blame his shoulder on Mike Nolan, he accused Alex of not really being hurt. So he threw him in there and he was hurt worse on National TV. He really is a durable guy. Concussions, happen. He was cleared the next week, but Kap had taken off and Harbaugh rode it out. so they kept smith out. It wasnt that he couldnt play its that the staff would let him. It was a national story. Everyone knew smith was healthy.

Im sure you dont watch the Niners near as much as the Chiefs and Vice-Versa. For all the things you read about his play, he has done some great things as well. I think your gonna be surprised. He really is one tough SOB. He gets up time after time. I really rooting for the Cheifs fan base to change their mind about Alex. He has got the goods, just an entire career spent with no continuity. The NINER organization was just in shambles when he was drafted.

Unless Alex Reid Dorsey prove it in the playoffs that this is a good deal I'm not going to like it. They have to prove it. I have no reason to like this trade so it's up to them to change my mind on game days. I don't have any expectations that Alex Smiff was worth the trade. Let them prove it. That's what we get yet again another retread and we are told to like him. FN BS.

Mr. Laz 03-13-2013 08:54 AM

We will draft OT Eric Fisher with the 1st pick because the only way to win with Alex Smith is to have a pristine pocket. Fisher has played both left and right offensive tackle so we can keep albert at left and put Fisher at right.

Next year we will have options about keeping/trading Albert because Fisher can flip over to the left side.

If you look at complete games played in 2012 (8) and project that out, his numbers are:

208 ypg/3318 passing yards/24 TD/10 INT

The passing yardage would have ranked 20th in the NFL. TD passes tied for 13th with Ryan Fitzpatrick.

His QB rating would still have been pretty because of his completion percentage, but that is the line of a game manager who is not being asked to do too much.

#Chiefs Andy Reid and John Dorsey on QB Alex Smith:

“After many discussions with the 49ers and Alex, we were able to come to an agreement that we felt was mutually beneficial,” Dorsey said. “Alex wanted to be a member of the Chiefs; we are excited to have him, and we think he can help improve this team.”

“Alex is going to fit in well here in Kansas City, and we are excited to have him on board,” Reid said. “We’ve seen him play, and he is very impressive. We are anxious to get him in the building and get him started learning our system.”

“I’m happy to be joining the Chiefs family,” Smith said. “I’d like to thank the Hunt family, John Dorsey and Coach Reid for giving me the opportunity to play football for such a proud franchise. I know from experience that Chiefs fans are among the greatest in the NFL, and I’m really looking forward to Sundays at Arrowhead Stadium.”

I no longer believe it was the Carl Peterson philosophy and am more convinced than ever that it is a Hunt mandate since the Todd Blackledge failure.

Once the GM is a serious candidate and signs his non-disclosure agreement, the bomb is dropped.

Lamar/Clark: Well, now that you (Peterson, Pioli, Dorsey) are fully on board with the Kansas City Chiefs, I want to let you know more about the Kansas City Chiefs policy. We do not draft quarterbacks in the first round, period. If you divulge this information, your football career is over, and so is your life.

If you want to think in terms of toughness, Yes i think it is a major accomplishment. Do you know how hard it is to play every single snap of every game in the NFL. It is actually a crazy stat. Considering few have ever done it. You wanted to know how tough the kid is, well you have a pretty good idea of what you have. He never once came out of the game, the backup never took one snap, not even to kneel down.

Is a 20-6 record the last 2 years relevant enough for you? You can only have it one way. There isnt a qb on earth who could have won the Niners games in 05 06 07. Name any one WR on the roster. Every Franchise goes through irrelevancy. I know you can attest to this, you guys have had some amazing seasons, but its a down time for you at the moment. You mean on a Patriots team right? Lets not start comparing that franchise to yours. I think he had a few more pieces around him then. You compare Alex career to Cassel but it doesnt even come close to the same path. Only stat wise do they look similar. Cassel was groomed and brought along, played when an injury happened. Alex was thrown into the fire just after he turned 20 on the worst team that has taken the field in 50 years. You know the rest of the story. Cassel has never dealt with what Smith has.

Clark should make a new tradition starting today. On the hall to the GM's office will be the portriats of every QB to start a game as a Chief. The most recent is placed above the GM's door. Then decends down to the first.

Sure I wanted Geno Smith but all the disdain for Alex Smith has made me fan. I hope he proves all his ditractors wrong. IMO he's a closer to a Trent Green/ Drew Brees combo more than he is a Cassel 2.0. The guys done nothing but work his whole career. I don't really care about his first few years in the league and I don't think they represent what he is now as a player. I think his last three years are a better indicator of what kind of player he is. I by no means think he's great or a long term answer for our QB position but I do think if he puts up a 95 plus QB rating this year we'll win alot of games and probably make the playoffs. We might win a playoff game too.

ayleswbj 03-13-2013 11:27 AM

You can make all kinds of weird comparisons, Troy Aikman:
4000 yrd passing seasons: ZERO
20 TD seasons: 1
Yards Per Att: 6.9 not overwhelming
Career Compl %: 61
Career Rating: 81.5

Game Manager? Looks alot like Smith and Cassel huh? oh except for the 3 freaking Superbowls! Stats are for losers, turn your blinker off. The Chiefs are turning the page and headed in the right direction for the first time in awhile. Wins, thats what you want. Wins

Second, yes you do, if your head coaches hand picked qb is ready to play and you were only signed to essentially a one year deal.

For some reason I don't think any of the top 10 QBs in the league are in danger of losing their job to the backup.

Cool story, sis.

We are sick of rooting for average QB's when we know it takes an Elite one to win a Super Bowl.

You just ruined all of your future arguments for Alex Smith.

Troy Aikman only did 3 times in his whole career

Walrus 03-13-2013 11:35 AM

Is Geno Smith elite?

You can make all kinds of weird comparisons, Troy Aikman:
4000 yrd passing seasons: ZERO
20 TD seasons: 1
Yards Per Att: 6.9 not overwhelming
Career Compl %: 61
Career Rating: 81.5

Game Manager? Looks alot like Smith and Cassel huh? oh except for the 3 freaking Superbowls! Stats are for losers, turn your blinker off. The Chiefs are turning the page and headed in the right direction for the first time in awhile. Wins, thats what you want. Wins

This

It's not the 90's anymore.
This was proven when Herm's philosophy of RRPP, good defense, and kicking field goals always lost to the Elite QB's with heavy passing attacks.

For all intents and purposes you're no different than a troll, so what good is making a bet with you?

if thats the cowardly way that people want to be, then dont make it aobut money, dont even make it about staying or leaving, make it about sig bets.

i have that much faith in how the chiefs are building. Look at what they have done so far. Getting Fasano, getting Donnie Avery, they are building around the qb. Alex Smith is going to have no excuses, and i dont personally think that he needs any.

So if you people are so sure that Alex Smith is a bust, injury prone, mediocre, sucks, worst than Cassel, well man the hell up. I say you are wrong, full of shit, butt hurt, fans who dont really care if they took Dysert number one overrall, but taking a qb number one would show you something, even if it is brain dead, and stupid.

Im not like that. I know exactly how this is going to play out. The days of the chiefs being 2-14 are over. Dorsey is a proven winner, Alex Smith is a proven winner, Andy Reid is a proven winner.

They will win here. A super bowl? I dont know, but the days of being the joke of the league are defintely over.
