We'll see plenty of 3 and 4 WR sets anyway...can't have enough DBs in this league, period. |
As I said Friday night, Chiefs were still interested. Saturday morning when they talked to Canter, he wanted 8 million a year.
Chiefs told him that won't happen, and they backed out and sent the info to Mike Florio that they were no longer interested. Smith had interest from SF, Detroit and Philly but all kept insisting on the 8 mill in the early part of Tuesday. When other comparable corners signed for 5, th Eagles signed Fletcher, the Lions kept Houston and the 49ers shifted their focus to Nnamdi. Chiefs called Canter Tuesday night and re-opened talks now that the price tag was coming down. Smith never took a visit on Tuesday night like was reported. They cut Cassel this morning because they got to a comfortable number with Smith and needed the space. Chiefs all along said they were in the 6 mill ballpark and Canter made the numbers work. Smith entered this seeking a 5 year, 40 million dollar deal with 24 mill guaranteed and got 3 for 18 with 11 guaranteed. |

You are pissed at how the organization was run for the last 40 years. I get that. Me too. I'm not going to hold that against this regime however. They deserve a shot. The draft hasn't even happened yet, they haven't played a single game yet, and you are blasting them. I'm simply willing to give them a shot and see what they can do. My tailgating buddies you mentioned hated the Pioli hiring at the time, stating it was all Belichick, and I disagreed with them. I was wrong. I'm simply thinking that our fans need to not use the history of the last 40 years to define this regime, when they have only been in charge for 2 months and haven't even had a draft yet. To this point, they are doing everything possible to improve this team by filling holes left by Pioli. |

You're better with Abdulla at free, Robinson at Nickel and Arenas at Dime/Punt returner than you are with Abdullah marginalized. |

Our secondary, currently under contract:
Brandon Flowers Eric Berry Sean Smith Dunta Robinson Javier Arenas Husain Abdullah Kendrick Lewis DeQuan Menzie Jalil Brown Tysyn Hartman Pretty ****ing impressive. |
add another Safety to pair with Berry and the Chiefs could have one helluva secondary.

All I know is we have tons of options in the secondary now. Tons.
Flowers, Smith, Arenas with Robinson, Berry at S Flowers, Smith, Robinson, Arenas with Berry, Abdullah. I just really think though they'll put Robinson at FS and bring in Lewis on passing downs and put Robinson in the slot. |

Hartman and Brown are the walking dead right now, so I don't count them. But one thing this team now appears to have is a hell of a lot of quality, versatile depth in the safety corps. |

I still think they'll draft a 5th corner and get rid of Hartman and Brown.
I can see the depth being: Flowers, Smith, Robinson, Arenas, draft pick, Berry, Lewis, Abdullah. |

We have enough depth to cover for him if he's the worthless junky he may very well be. If he's re-dedicated, OTOH, he could develop into a dynamite 3rd CB to replace Arenas in 2014 and would probably be among the best returners in the game. |

Nick Jacobs @Jacobs71
Impressions from tape on Sean Smith- Strong in press coverage. Great size. Good speed. Fits this system perfectly. Aggressive CB. |

You're just another in a long line of ****ing clueless dumbasses that are attempting to garner attention to yourself by bitching and moaning about every little move the Chiefs make. In other words, you're a dumb****ing weepy vagina, but please, continue. It makes you an easy target. |

Love the signing, and the complete change of approach toward free agency with the Chiefs organization. It doesnt guarantee that they will have success because of it (ask Dan Snyder), but it is nice to see them doing something other than sitting on their hands while millions of cap dollars sit untouched.
I wish that there were a surefire lock for a QB choice for them to draft at 1 so we could finally get our own QB, but it looks like its just not in the cards. I feel like if Reid thought any of those guys were worth it, Alex Smith wouldnt be here. I hate that this is like, the 4th effin QB we've gotten from SF to try to get ourselves a leader on offense. In any case, Im putting my faith in Reid to get the most out of this guy. Whatever the case, its going to be a very different team than what we saw last season, and that in itself for me is a damn good start. |
In other news Jets are 90% sure they will bring in Kevin Kolb.
|
So, I will admit to not knowing too much about Sean Smith. Can anyone recommend a game to watch where he demonstrates his ball/coverage skills?
|
I'm pleasantly surprised. Good move.

The difference between 2009 and 2013 is that I was absolutely certain that ***** sucked ass, that his offseason moves sucked ass and that Cassel was a complete failure. In 2013, the Chiefs are coming off of 3 out of 4 losing seasons with that moron in charge and fired him. They've hired one of THE best coaches in over the course of the past 15 years and a seasoned personnel man from one of the best front offices over the past two decades. They've made smart moves to fill existing holes without giving up ridiculous contracts, outside of Robinson, these guys are in their mid-to-late 20's (Prime of their careers) and the draft is still ahead. You and your ****ing dumbass cronies will just continue to bitch and moan and cry like ****ing weeping vaginas because the Chiefs chose Alex Smith over Geno Smith. I'm ****ing sick of you and your crew's constant whining, so expect to be called on it, you dumb mother****er. Do us all a favor and take a walk into the Pacific Ocean this afternoon and never return, okay? Bitch. |

I'm not gonna read this whole thread. But this is at best a meh signing for me. Please tell me why I should be excited about DB who has 5 INTs in 4 years.
Reading this didn't exactly give me a chubby either: http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/12/1...mith-most.html |
