Check that, I wasn't 12, I was 14...the '96 season.

our talented defensive guys are too used to losing and don't play with enough edge IMO

They usually start with plenty of "edge". Then, the offense led by slapdick QB does its usual bang up job and by mid-third quarter, the fire has left the building. Can Alice and Reed correct this horrible dynamic? Stay tuned!

Are you talking about the game that the Saints pulled off the laterals to "tie" the game only to miss the extra point? I think that was a week 17 game against the Jaguars.

'Hamas' Jenkins 03-18-2013 09:23 PM

That game was more recent.

I remember some ****tard either making or missing a chipshot to put the Jags in.

Absolutely.

Cunningham with a good coach could easily have been one of the all time greats.

Ryan was a terrible HC with a team full of superior talent.

it was missing...I remember laughing...I was 11...I think it was a Pittsburgh guy maybe? It was a chip shot and he like tripped and fell or something...or caught a divot

I don't know, it was a long ****ing time ago and I was still fully hard for Michael Jordan and football was secondary for me

yeah that game was fishy...that kicker was either told to miss or had some $$$ on the game

that was a blatant on purpose miss

tk13 03-18-2013 09:28 PM

In 1996 Morten Andersen missed a 30 yard FG with 4 seconds left against Jacksonville... Jags made the playoffs. I think that's what he's talking about.

tk13 03-18-2013 09:30 PM

This was the other Jacksonville win a few years later. Probably even more amazing.

I can't imagine being a Saints fan(if that was the team). From epic play to biggest kick in the balls possible in sports.

I thought it meant a PO spot for NO? Perhaps not.

tk13 03-18-2013 09:38 PM

I think it knocked the Saints out of the playoff race... although I don't think they were ahead or even favored to get the spot.

Yeah an 8-8 sneak-in record was in the back of my mind. Thanks for posting the vid by the way.

Here is a link to the recap. Was the game right after the Joe Horn cell-phone saga, and it made the 7-8. 2003.

This.

The list of starters I'd rather have than Alex Smith is longer than the list I'd rather him over.

So has Alex Smith.

It's doubtful he can exceed what Cassel did here in 2010, based on his career to date. There's no evidence he can have a better season.

Alex Smith has shown he can win playoff games and against good QB's.

He wins a playoff game here and he's better than any QB this franchise has had since Montana.

okcchief 03-18-2013 10:24 PM

Cunningham had all the tools, but he never had a chance with that offensive coaching staff. He should have put up some games like CK did against the pack. That kid is going to have so much talent around him for the next few years he has every opportunity to go down as one of the greats.

Russell Wilson and Kapernick are in much better situations than Luck and RGIII. I'd take any of them though :(

Probably been said, but that probably factored into the decision to give up the #2 for Smith

No. In the 6th round Oakland is targeting a cricket player from Pakistan that just outran a camel.

You don't give a middle of the pack QB 20 mil/season.

Sure you do. If you're middle of the pack QB had an amazing post season and won the SB.

Middle of the pack is not an insult, they are good QBs

No, you don't. Like Hamas mentioned many people are confusing fantasy football numbers with real world value. Flacco is a top 10QB and Smith if likely bottom 10.

I'm not. Believe me, no one knows the NFL isn't about stats than me. This isn't baseball. Is Flacco the same QB that before the 2012 season was most likely going to be a FA, and people were Luke warm on? Is he a new QB? Maybe. If so, we know you can up your game in the middle of your career.

He's the same QB he has been the last 4 years, but the last two he has been money in the playoffs. A Flacco year is 3800 yards around, 23 TD's, and 90 passer rating on a team built around ball control. When asked to do more in the playoffs he has shown he can. The combination of numbers, winning, and the eye test make it obvious he is top 10. Top 5, probably not quite yet.

That's fine. You have him top ten I have him outside the top ten. He's a QB that needs things working around him, he can make a play here or there to win a game. I just have him rated lower than you. He's really good, most of the top 15 to 20 QBs are really good.

I believe I got it right and to go along with that Cleveland used it's 2nd round pick in the supplemental draft and NO had to forfiet thier 2nd round pick so starting in the 3rd round we really pick two spots earlier. So it's more like #61, #95 and #98.

It was Morten Anderson who was pretty automatic. Allowed the Jags to go to the playoffs and knock off Dungver...only for the league to gift them a Super Bowl the next year.

Losing Brandon Carr wasn't so bad #Chiefs fans. You get Sean Smith for like 1/6 the price and a 3rd round pick.

this.

now will alll the whiners finally shut up about carr last year? (yea right...)

Then we could try and move that #2 pick.
