Mocks don't mean ****ing shit. You should know that by now.

I'm not talking about his stats in the NFL.

Cam Newton was not considered "elite" coming out college. He had warts the size of oranges.

Possibly trading him? You can't evaluate based on the myriad rumors circulating. Franchising Albert was a good move.

Was cutting Winston was a bad move? It's hard to tell. I'm guessing they had a reason to do it -- it was definitely a personal choice by the coach. Again, I defer to the man with coaching experience.

I admit to never having watched him play, but he's 6'1 220... not exactly midget material.

He also tossed for 72% and 4300 his senior year, so i'm inclined to say theres atleast some potential there, its seems he went undrafted because of his height and coming from a spread offense

I wouldn't mind sitting Geno for a couple years , build up his strength, work on his craft and get accustomed to the NFL game, and just have Alex Smith play out his contract and Geno steps in, in a couple years. That's ONLY if we can't trade back and Albert is signed long term.

It's very hard that we pick a QB a #1 and sit him for 2 seasons. Has this ever been done?

Peyton Manning, also threw a crap ton of picks his first year, also threw for a ton of yards, and went 3-13 his first year. Why? Because that is how Bruce Arians trains his qbs. Trial by fire. Seattle didnt let Russell Wilson loose till about week 10. Rg3, was never fully released. Hence why he threw so few passes, and most of his passes were off of zone reads, and play action boot legs. Those two were put on a govenor, where as andrew luck was handed a full blown ferrari, and told to have at it.

Andrew Luck, is the most complete qb since peyton manning to enter this league. Oh, and Andrew Luck, of the three, had by far the WORST team.

Not in recent memory. THe last number one over all qb to sit period, i think was eli manning, even that only lasted about 9 weeks? If they draft Geno number one, he would be almost a guarantee to start. The we want geno smith chants would start before the first play of preseason i would have to imagine. 2012 - Andrew Luck

I do this shit all the time too.

I dont think the majority of chiefs fans, or anyone around the nfl expects alex smith to suck. I dont even think that is the majority of everyone on this board. Perhaps of the people posting. I think most people think that even if hes just a slight upgrade, he is an upgrade none the less of cassel.

I dont care what anyone says. If he just doesnt turn the ball over, hes a far bigger upgrade than people want to give credit for. For that reason alone, hes worth having. Maybe too expensive, i was on record over there stating that the 49ers would be lucky to get a 4th rounder for him, so i was as shocked as anyone, but, this is andy reid we are talking about.

As he should. If he gets an offer that blows him away, he should take it, if not, take geno smith. Shrugs. He has all the leverage. and that leverage is only going to increase, as we get closer to draft day. By having alex smith, that actually creates more leverage, because now he can put it out that taking a qb isnt a need for him, and that moving has to benefit him.....

The Franchise 03-19-2013 12:16 PM

Guess what? Alex Smith, Chase Daniel and Geno Smith can all co-exist on this roster.

Alex Smith will win you games in 2013.
Chase Daniel is the experienced (slighty) backup QB who can step in if/when Smith gets hurt.
Geno Smith gets a year to learn under Reid and Pederson.

In 2014 you can keep either Alex Smith or Chase Daniel as your competition with Geno Smith. The other one is traded or cut.

Then how did he throw for 4,051 yards and 21 TD's his rookie season of 2011?

So six weeks of training camp with Mike Shula as his QB coach made him elite? Hire Mike Shula, asap!

actually, they are crediting his work with chris weinke, just like they talked up geno smith, for his work with chris weinke. Apparently, now chris weinke is the qb whisperer. Took, Mike Mayock from stating that geno smith should go in the late first at earliest, to stating he will be a top 10 pick, from the combine, to the pro day.

Clearly, anyone that said he wasn't "Elite" was a dumb****. It's exactly what happened to Marino, where people "claimed" he had issues and slipped to #27 overall.

Fortunately for Newton, Carolina ignored all the bullshit and took him #1 overall, anyway.

The closest comparison in the NFL to Newton is Kaepernick. But he's only started 10 games vs. Newton's 32, so IMO, it's slightly premature to state that he's a Newton clone.

But Kaep certainly has the same skillset and will likely become a beast of a QB.

We might as well talk about the things Cordell Patterson can do in relation to Justin Blackmon.

They both (Geno & Cordell) have about the same chance on being a Chief next year.
