C'mon, let's get a crooked number

Bowser 08-01-2013 12:46 PM

Butler's fat ass can't score from first on a double in the corner from Salvy. FRANCOUER WAS RIGHT

BlackHelicopters 08-01-2013 12:46 PM

Let's put this away with a big inning!

Take what we can get

siberian khatru 08-01-2013 12:51 PM

Well, it's good that we keep scoring, but it sure would be nice to get that one hit that blows this thing open.

We could've put them away. At 5-2, they're still in it

Saul Good 08-01-2013 12:52 PM

So we've loaded the bases three times in the last four innings with less that two outs...and scored because of beating out two double plays and an error...on what should have been a double play.

Royals baseball: Station to station

mr. tegu 08-01-2013 12:54 PM

What kind of miserable luck do we have that we can win 8 games in a row and lose ground in the division and the Indians win 7 in a row?! It is even more ridiculous considering the teams in front of us haven't been known for dominating like this at all in recent years.

ChiTown 08-01-2013 12:56 PM

a double play would be nice here.

Yeah. They've at least made up considerable ground in the wild card chase during the streak.

We're losing ground in the division? How?

mr. tegu 08-01-2013 12:59 PM

Shields' main problem today seems to be an inability to throw his purpose pitches accurately. They are not close enough to be tempting to the hitters.

Ah.

So question. We've got a doubleheader against the Tigers that is a makeup from one of our April rainouts. If I recall correctly, the game was close to getting called early (one or two outs away) but they instead decided to postpone it. When we play that game, do we start fresh 0-0 in the first inning? Because that would suck balls if we did.

Sorry for the stupid question. I don't watch baseball... ever. Unless the Royals are winning. Which is never.

0-0 since it was not an official game.

I think that was the Rays snow-out game in May, but they start over.

Saul Good 08-01-2013 01:04 PM

Shields just gutted through five innings giving up just two runs after Guthrie did the same in six innings yesterday. I believe that his presence has made us better even on days he doesn't pitch.

Our staff never stops competing.

I think the game you are referring to is the one with the Rays that was only 6 outs from being over. But to answer your question, that game will start from the beginning.

They have been doing this the past three seasons where they are near the top of the division during the first half of the season. But they have always fallen off. Last season they finished like 4-28 or something like that. Hopefully the trend continues this season. They can't live off of walk offs forever.

RockChalk 08-01-2013 01:14 PM

If you haven't seen Cain's catch, go check it out on the royals site. Ridiculous. Dude is becoming one of the best CF's in baseball

Franconna(sp) deserves some credit,I think it goes to show what a very good manager can do to help a club.

What are the odds we could get a good manager if Yost gets fired?

Like, would LaRussa come out of retirement? Is that something impossible?

mr. tegu 08-01-2013 01:21 PM

Shields stays in for the sixth inning.
