Jamaal Charles - RB - Chiefs

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on SportsCenter Monday the Chiefs are "privately" concerned about Jamaal Charles' strained foot.
Per Schefter, the Chiefs are "hoping for the best but bracing for the worst." Charles will likely undergo a Monday MRI to determine the full extent. X-rays confirmed Charles avoided a fracture, but a mid-foot sprain could cost him a lot of time. The full damage has yet to be formally revealed.

Remember LJ in that Packer game in 2007. Everyone thought it was just a tweak but ended up being a Lisfranc injury.

I'm obviously just speculating, but an injury like that raises the specter, and it is the Chiefs.

I heard Jamaal was carted off at practice guys. Some fans are saying that his shoe was left on the field and that they think his foot might have still been in that shoe. Oh noes.

Just another stark reminder that the football gods ****ing hate us all and the Kansas City Chiefs.

I'm just worried about the progression here.

It went from lower leg injury, to foot injury, to the dreaded mid-foot injury. Folks, if it's mid-foot, it's in the lisfranc area. And as near as I can tell, it isn't really possible to have a mid-foot sprain that isn't a lisfranc injury. Perhaps there's an ortho here that can convince me otherwise, but that's always been my understanding. The only region there really is to sprain in the middle of the foot is that bundle of joints.

When the foot sprain diagnosis came out, I almost said "phew...at least it isn't a mid-foot sprain..." but didn't even like uttering it lest I piss off the football Gods. With Schefters next tweet referring to it as the mid-foot, I realized that the football Gods live in a state of perpetually pissed off at Chiefs fans.

Why the hate?

This is a cruel setup for us to go 7-9 and Alex Smith to be praised for doing it without Charles.
