First party developers can make games with official licenses. 2k had the baseball license yet Sony still made MLB The Show.

Allowing EA to turn out the same basic game year after year, is not a way to encourage making a better NFL game.

The MLB license included Sony...

The license EA holds is exclusive to EA.

That was different. 2K didnt have the full rights like EA does with the NFL. 2K only had the 3rd party developer license. So thats why there was a MLB The Show game.

Unless 2K can pull a rabbit out of its ass with this new license bidding going on, then its gonna be EA and their crappy ass foootball again.

Steam winter sale is even better.

But yes, every time you buy a PC game, you gain money when compared to a console.

scorpio 11-27-2013 03:18 PM

The only reason I even own consoles anymore are for exclusives. I hadn't turned on my 360 in probably close to a year before GTA V was released. I'll probably buy one of the new machines when either Halo or Final Fantasy 15 come out, but in the meantime I'll be playing all of the "next-gen" games on my PC with my trusty controller @ 1080p/60+ FPS.

Curious to see how long it will take to come up with viable XBone/PS4 emulators given the new architectures.

Same way, I had to blow dust off my 360 in my closet before I could play gta V, and even then I still gave up on it because the performance and control was utter shit, and at every corner I said 'X would be better on PC, Y would be better on PC'

It is pre-rendered in the game engine, just like every cut scene/trailer of most games. They created the effect by making the textures that are normally animated, out of real life photos. So in effect, they get more realistic looking textures because they are literally using real life imaging. The game will actually be coming to consoles as well. But, like all games, it will have be dumbed down in order to run on them.

Except Madden, MLB The show. Grand theft auto 5(for now)and other games that arent on the PC or are delayed due to pirating. Ooh and the fact that thepeople i know that game game on xbox mostly. When i wanna get my street fighter on the pc lobby is as dead as they come.

You have a very good point. With Steam, amazon, gamefly and humble sales, you can have an incredible prices for great games. I see these console game sales, BIOSHOCK INFINITE FOR $30!!!!!!! I just bought the entire bioshock series last month for less than $15. Yeah, I cannot sell them, but the last time I sold console games, I was embarrassed with how little they gave me. Getting $12 for a 3 month old $60 game blew my mind. If you wait for the sales, you can get a pretty awesome experience without spending a boatload.

New World Order 01-10-2014 05:33 PM

The achilles' heel of PC gaming is ports from consoles take too long or never eventually arrive.

When they are your favorite kind of games its a pretty big deal. Also alot of games that come out 2 weeks a month or a year down the road after a console release is because of pirates. I've talked to developers/pr/marketing guys from gaming companies about this.

They maximize on the consoles cause thats where the money is, then release it on PC later to make free dollars and if they pirate so what.

The problem is the game producers, not the hardware. If people would just wise up over to the PC master race, then the developers would develop more sports game for them.

I don't see how.

Console game prices are almost always significantly higher and a PC is only a couple hundred dollars more expensive. Over 5-8 years the PC is much cheaper.

not to mention that upgrading your PC is cheaper than buying the latest console.

PC is more expensive because you can't resell your games. It becomes even much more expensive if you dont have a smaller tv or monitor for gaming.

Even with reselling, its still less expensive.

Not to mention, 95% of console games don't get resold.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I resell my games quite frequently.

You figure a solid gaming machine costs 500 or so. Factor in 3 new games a year ($150), Steam sales a year... $100? Mouse, keyboard, gaming monitor/tv and a nice chair to sit in during those long hours.

I can't hook up my tv in the family room and play with a m/k, it's just too inconvenient.

Plus, you have to wait an eternity for ports to come to pc, if they come at all.

Not to mention sports games:

UFC, Madden (Please god send 2k), MLB The Show, WWE series, Fight Night and who knows when PC will truly get a next gen NBA 2k. It could be a ps3 port for the next several years.

Mr. Laz 01-12-2014 07:36 PM

the price for PC games drops much fast than console games

The price for Console games doesn't drop at all unless there is a PC version to force it to drop.

You keep saying this. I have never found it very true. Console exclusives sure, but I have never found console games less expensive even factoring in the resale factor. Steam sale, gamefly, amazon, humble bumble etc. all give amazing deals if you wait a month or two.

If you buy 250 dollars worth of pc games per year that means in 4 years the whole pc gaming rig will have cost 1500, and that's not including the monitor, maintenance to the tower etc..

Console is cheaper.

The endless debate for console...

When you have to bring up the added expense of a ****ing keyboard and mouse (controller), maintenance to tower (a ****ing $2 dollar can of compressed air/maintenance to console), cost of a monitor (tv), cost of a chair (wtf do you do? stand when you play your console?), the 5 or so ports that wont make it to pc (vs the hundreds that wont make it to console), the benefit of reselling a game for $20 less than you bought new (vs buying a game for $5 on steam sale) you just know that you are hopelessly looking for a reason to justify spending $500 on a pos system that was mediocre in 2010.

Have fun with that shit for the next 8 years, bud.

Meanwhile, in another 2 years or so, I'll spend 1/5 of what you spent on that pos to upgrade my PC, that already shits on the PS4 and XBone, with a shiny new GPU that will extend the life of my computer til the next console release, and it will shit on that console too and it will be 5+ years old.

UFC, Madden (Please god send 2k), MLB The Show, WWE series, Fight Night and who knows when PC will truly get a next gen NBA 2k. It could be a ps3 port for the next several years.

First thing

If you're willing to look you can find a good gaming PC for less then $500 you just have to be willing to look. I have a pc that is great at games that I spent a grand total of $255 for. That's including video card and ram that I bought to go with the PC. Ebay is wonderful for finding cheap PCs that are great for gaming if you are willing to do the work and find them.

But on the flip side games are cheaper on PC. I paid 29.99 for NBA 2k pc If I were to get a console version I would have paid double that. And I can mod my 2k to look great and more real with ESPN,TNT scoreboards. It's really nice :D

Next most PCs come with keyboard and mouse included.

you do make a good point about UFC Madden there are some console only games that I wish would be on PC. NBA 2k will most likely be a port but that's just 2ks greed. They could very easily make it up to nex gen standards but they refuse to.

I love console and will always pick that, but you can't play F2P games on a console that have paid type amount of content in it like you can on PC. There's no beating that.

TBH, doesn't happen.

The fact that you made that statement, shows that you really don't understand.

Feverishly updating drivers? Come on, that's just silly. So is the idea of PC gaming crashing so much it would interfere with playing time.

My xbox freezes every now and then. Just saying.

And lets not forget the whole RROD with the last xbox

PC games do from time to time crash but lets not pretend consoles are perfect

not even close LMAO

I don't update my PC more than my XBox does when it says 'you must update or you will be unable to connect to xbox live' etc.

most of my PC updates are 1-click as well

Still I refuse to spend $1K on a GPU and consoles are more convenient to move.

If you spend 1k on a GPU your litteraly doing like 2 780s, which is 6x as powerful as a console :/

So yea, dont need to spend that kind of money.

Console more portable? Its a PC case layed on its side. In fact, there are tons of LAN party cases out there that are made specifically to be portable.

Think you are confusing a console with a PS Vita.

A console is a computer that requires a yearly $50 sub to use the internet you are already paying for.

BigBeauford 01-13-2014 10:18 PM

I can't wait until DayZ comes out on PS4!

New World Order 01-13-2014 10:20 PM

Dayz on Xbone and PS4 will be interesting.

I don't pay a red cent to use my console. I pay the same price to game on my PS3 that I pay on my PC.

TBH, I haven't played a PC game since Windows XP. And yes, it was common back then. There's hundreds of forums with millions of posts dedicated to such things.
