It was OK. They were getting a push for Charles before they limited his carries. They just looked bad in pass protection compared to how long Luck had plenty of room and time to throw.

They looked good against luck on defense. Don't let the score fool you. And when we had Hali and Houston, we frustrated the hell out of rivers. I'm not worried about our D. I still believe these games all depend on whether which version of Alex smith we will see. The efficient version, or the three and out version.

... as long as Robinson wasn't in. Luck picked on Robinson throughout that game.

I never did find out why Robinson was even in that game after barely seeing the field after being yanked in the Giants game. He's a complete liability and either Cooper or Parker are a much better option at this point.

I thought Robinson did fine. I imagine he was in the game because Indy has faster receivers. I'd be ok with seeing if Parker could do the same job even better.

Luck had the most success with screens and runs where we tripped all over ourselves. We can fix those problems by replacing Lewis with demps, and Houston is going to help us immensely because he offers a far more well rounded game than zombo. Most importantly, wrapping up and tackling.

My recollection of the game was Luck constantly burning Robinson to keep drives alive. The one time he made a decent play, Poe drew a taunting penalty. :doh!:

I don't remember many plays the Colts made that weren't caused by completely blown coverage or missed tackles on our part.

I don't see this team blowing coverages all day like they did last time.

I also don't see them turning the ball over more times than they did in any game like last time.

Our offense will turn into Jedi Knights, the defense an army of Wookiees.

Mother****erJones 12-30-2013 04:55 PM

This bright side is we can't play any worse. Luck will keep exposing our secondary unless the puff puff pass rush gets going. Poe needs to beast mode too. I'm not confident in our chances. But well see.

Mr. Laz 12-30-2013 05:06 PM

negatives:

Colts beat us already so they know they can
Colts will be at home after beating us at Arrowhead

Positives:

Justin Houston
Our tired legs should be much fresher
Coaches should be more willing to play 2nd team after watching San Diego game
Starters should be more motivated after watching 2nd team play as well as them
We played so crappy that the colts won't learn as much the 1st game as we will

notes:

dam coaches better play Powe .. seriously what is it going to take?
Demps wasn't any better at deep help than lewis but he's better everywhere else
Hemmingway and Jenkins should get a few more snaps
Knile Davis should get more snaps

BossChief 12-30-2013 05:11 PM

If we are able to bring the defense that was in the first half of the year and he offense from after the bye, we can beat anyone in football.

We will need all three fazes of the team playing at high levels for us to advance.

Agreed. It was impressive considering the Chargers were fighting for their playoff lives. With the geographical proximity, there's no reason Chiefs fans can't/won't jump on up to 80-90% of those unsold seats on top of the ones we already have. It's not unreasonable to suggest that up to 10,000 Chiefs fans won't be there, almost 15%.

Picked them apart? The WR were running free everywhere, I could have completed most of those passes.

Who was it Shawn Smith who was on a CB blitz and Lewis was supposed to cover his man instead watched him run right past him.
It was ridiculously lousy defense.

Yeah, I could remember like, at least 5-10 passes where there wasn't a defender within a 5 yard radius. How does that happen?

bshmerlie 12-31-2013 02:20 AM

I personally think its gonna come down to our defense. If the defense of the first half of the season shows up we win. If the defense from the second half of the season shows up we're gonna lose. Its all gonna come down to pressure on the QB. Which ever team does that will win.

Maybe it's the fact that we've lost to this goddamn team in the playoffs three times in the past. Maybe it's the fact we were soundly beat two weeks ago by these guys. Maybe it's both.

In any case, I have this feeling of dread going into the game. Nothing would make me happier than for us to bounce these guys after all the heartache they've caused, but I'm just nervous as hell that once again, things will go awry.

Bullshit. They held Denver to a season low at the time point total and we're collapsing the pocket on Crybaby allowing only 3 points.

Marcellus 12-31-2013 10:29 AM

Interesting info from the KC Star.

Chiefs are the only AFC playoff team with more road wins than home wins.

Since the 2nd Wildcard team was added in 1990 at least 1 team has won a road playoff game every year and in the AFC 2 road teams have been won games 9 out of the last 10 years.

FringeNC 12-31-2013 10:31 AM

Seems to me when the offense is playing well it's like a Chip Kelly-lite offense -- getting playmakers into space with runs and short passes and to be effective, the O-line must be creating that space.

Ya, and yet, in 2010 everyone was supremely confident going into the Colts game because they had the worst run defense in the league, by a wide margin, and we had the best rushing offense in the NFL.
Predictions and prognostication is just a wild guess with little intrinsic value for the game upcoming.

Vegas has us installed as their favorite to win- and their putting money on their pick when setting the line.

I don't think it's a certainty that we win, but I feel optimistic in their chances to come away with a victory.

Hell, if this team got "hot" and the defense plays like they were in the 1st half of the season, and the offense like it has towards the end of the season, there isn't a team that they can't beat, but that's just a complete unknown as to what version of the defense and offense will show up on any given Sunday- or Saturday in this case.

It was the only game all season that the entire team played like shit and it felt more like a fluke. I think they just had a let down after making the playoffs the week before. Yes, they technically could have still won the division but I don't think anyone believed that the broncos would lose to either the Texans or the Raiders.

If Houston is back, Hali and Poe are rested and someone locks Robinson in a closet, the Chiefs have a chance to win this. If Hali and/or Houston are out, it looks grim.

Lets make this much easier, who did we lose to at home? Rivers, (should have won) Manning, and Luck.

Road - Rivers (should have won) Manning.

We lost 5 games to 3 QB's and we should have beat Rivers twice really.

I bet Succop probably missed that FG on purpose to give the Colts false hope for the playoffs. Clever.

He will probably miss a couple more during the upcoming game just to make the illusion seem real.
