Might be time to kick Maxwell to the curb for a backup middle infielder.

Why Not? 05-07-2014 04:41 PM

So awesome! I can't tell you how long it's been since I've seen the Royals kick someone's ass in person. Great anniversary present boys.

WhawhaWhat 05-07-2014 04:41 PM

Haha, parenting moment as we come back from break.

I actually disagree. He has potential to be a really good player, the problem is he isn't getting regular at bats. You can't expect him to produce much when he's only getting one at bat a week. If you don't use it you lose it and they are doing a really bad job getting him at bats. Besides it would be dumb to get rid of him when you are going to carry China doll Cain. That guy can't stay healthy more than a couple weeks at a time.

That will be tough. Since I live out here I want to warn you the Royals generally soil themselves out here. I've been to a lot of losses at SafeCo.

CoMoChief 05-07-2014 05:48 PM

Seattle is playing relatively well right now are they not?

you'd think they'd be a cakewalk but I doubt it.

I dont think the Royals have to face King Felix, so that's good

Mama Hip Rockets 05-07-2014 05:50 PM

Good game, boys.

I wouldn't mind this. He has looked atrocious in nearly every at-bat this season.

tk13 05-07-2014 05:51 PM

It's funny because as up and down as the last couple weeks have been, the Royals have won 3 of the last 4 series.

Yeah, but Iwakuma was pretty good last year. I bet he shuts this offense down.

gblowfish 05-07-2014 07:16 PM

Nice job today. Don't get too giddy, Padres suck out loud. That was painfully evident, and they took us into extas twice.

We still only had two extra base hits today. Need Moar Power.

But a win is a win. On to the Emerald City!

He's looks really bad at the plate and I don't see him as a future starter for this team. I think a guy that can spell Infante or Escobar would be more valuable at this point. What should, but won't happen is Moose should be sent down and maybe give Colon or Gio another shot as a backup

I don't disagree with you that he looks bad at the plate. However, I maintain that it's because his plate appearances are so few and far between. It's hard to get going offensively when there is so much down time in between at bats. Hell, look at how much time it's take Butler to get going this season and he's been batting every day practically.

If they sent Moose down they'd do the same thing to Gio that they are doing to Maxwell. He'd sit on the bench practically every day and then they'd put him in one game and if he did poorly they'd say see... he's not a major leaguer and send him right back down. You can't do that and not expect them to fail. They need to get regular reps like they've given moustakas if you want to see what they really are, but this organization won't do that because they've already made up their minds as to what players are before they've played in the majors. They give too long of leashes to guys they think are the solution and way too short of leashes to players they don't really believe in.

3 of 4 in SEA would be awfully nice. Would be 19-18 headed home. Would take

The dude is 30 years old and isn't going to be getting better or become a full time player even if Cain went down so he's pretty much worthless. I'm just not seeing a reason to carry him as the 5th OF'er. It seems like a waste of a roster spot to me. Find someone that can be a utility guy on the IF and can handle not having to play everyday.

I said this before Cain came back that once he did we needed to get rid of Maxwell for a backup middle infielder. My preference being Gio.

Some people love to hate Dyson but he is a much better backup outfielder than Maxwell. I like what he brings to the team.

Agreed. His ability to pinch run and steal a base late in the game is also another dimension he adds on top of just being a flat better player than Maxwell as well. In a pinch, I think that Eibner , or whatever his name is in Omaha might be someone that can come up and play like Lough did.

Yep. His pinch running is his most obvious skill for the team but when getting a start he can cause some havoc and stress on the defense and today he made two plays in the outfield that Maxwell doesn't even sniff.
