TCU has won a national championship in football. Our women's rifle team has won a national championship. Our baseball team has a good shot at a natty this year too.

Sorry that the school you like only has one overrated program.

LOL

Never go full Rusty, man. TCU claiming college football championships is even more of a stretch than a couple of the early ones claimed by us in basketball.

Are you really rolling with the 1938-39 season where TCU eeked out a thrilling victory over the juggernaut Carnegie Tech Tartans in the Sugar Bowl? If so, then yes, it's even more of a stretch than some of our claimed basketball championships.

Maybe one day ku football will be watchable. Maybe.

Quote:

TCU holds two national championships in football, one from 1935 and the other from 1938. In 1935, TCU spent most of the season ranked No. 1 in the country before losing a regular season game to then No. 2 ranked SMU in the "Game of the Century." SMU went on to lose to Stanford in the Rose Bowl, while TCU went on to beat LSU in the Sugar Bowl. Since the Associated Press and wire services didn't award national championships until 1936, TCU recognizes a statistical poll created by Paul O. Williamson who awarded his national title to LSU and TCU for the 1935 season. The 1938 team was undefeated and was the consensus #1 team in the Associated Press Poll.

Well since you asked; and since the era means little to you in this argument...

1891 - 7-0-1 (technically counts since you said "undefeated")

1899 - 10-0

1908 - 9-0

RockChalk 04-07-2015 12:19 PM

Looks to me like we have 2 national championships we should be claiming in football. At first, I didn't care much for your NC standards there KC Native, but this really works in our favor.

You're claiming titles from the 30's, so it doesn't really matter.

The whole damn point is that you claiming TCU has a college football national championship is a complete and utter joke. However, I'll let you keep boasting about that women's nub-licking rifle shooting national championship

Don't care. I went to TCU starting in '99.

Check out this game from TCU's "championship year"

Tulane Stadium

TCU 0 3 0 0 - 3
LSU 0 2 0 0 - 2

SCORING SUMMARY
LSU: Safety: Incomplete pass by Sammy Baugh in own end zone (2nd).
TCU: Taldon Manton 36-yard field goal (2nd).

Don't be mad because my school has actually done something in football while ku languishes away at the bottom like iowa state.

KC native 04-07-2015 12:42 PM

Enough of focusing on superior programs though, are you guys going to win a conference game this year? (yes, I know you beat iowa state last year. That's not really a win though).

ku is an iowa state twin.

I'm honestly curious as to why someone would start a ku football thread and people would act like the team was worth following at all.

If I was a ku fan, which thankfully I'm not, then I would pretend it didn't exist.

This is opposite of what most rival fans say about us. You know, "KU fans don't care about football. They only care about basketball".

Hey, I'm a die hard. Nothing wrong with that. I have seen good years of KU football, the last one was about 7 years ago, but it was fun. But really, I'm curious why you are so obsessed with KU all of a sudden. Ever since the basketball games in the past year or so. What's your deal? Trollin?

Iowa States coaches sound pretty excited/encouraged this year. Wasn't the case at all last spring.

Pretty exciting year. First time in awhile no staff overturn. We return a LOT of guys who played for the first time last year. Even more guys got playing time because we had an insane amount of injuries. Best RB we've had in a long time, and he's a freshman. One of the top WR corps in the Big12. Bowled in South Endzone finally.

Not winning the Big12, but it will be a good Iowa State team.

Sam Richardson. Believe it or not one of the best returning QB's in the Big12. Just need the OL to play better than it has. And stay healthy. We had I think 9 different starting OL combinations last year because of injury.

Top returning QBs according to "The Big Lead"

1. Trevone Boykin [TCU]
2. Trevor Knight [Oklahoma]
3. Michael Cummings [Kansas]
4. Tyrone Swoopes [Texas]

ROFL. Cummings is not 3. If Richardson is back, I'd take him. Hell the Baylor backup probably put up more yards and scored than Cummings.

Don't get me wrong. I like the kid. He's tough as an old boot, but he doesn't have it unless he's gotten ALOT better in the offseason and the WR and OL suddenly aren't an embarrassment.
