Morales is so unathletic... honestly think Billy Butler was a better athlete than him.

(But I won't care if he gives KC .275/.320/.450 with 15-25 HR and 35-40 2B)

He's a lot faster than Butler.

Moustakas hit a bullet right at him.

Eaton made a catch that would remind you of Jim Edmonds blind, over-the-shoulder catch when he played for the Angels.

Butler would have three GIDP's already.

Just watched it, and that's exactly the play it reminded me of. Edmonds's was better, though. IIRC, he was playing extremely shallow because David Howard was up.

And hell yeah, Sal!

Hootie 04-09-2015 01:45 PM

Welp. In for the complete game shutout now ...

Volquez can go 9.

Pablo 04-09-2015 01:46 PM

You know what, home runs are really, really cool.

LoneWolf 04-09-2015 01:46 PM

Homers, Homers everywhere. If this team can hit for power, they are going to win close to 100 games.

Morales hits into a ton of them, too. Just as many as Billy, really, over the past several years... because he, like Butler, hits in the middle of the lineup, doesn't strike out much, and can't run.

Saul - I'll have to see Morales in person. He looks like he's in a little better shape than in the past 2-3 years, so he might have edged ahead of Butler a little bit. But he's a pretty uncoordinated guy all-around (more what I was referring to).

Canofbier 04-09-2015 01:47 PM

God do I love this team. I'm having more fun watching them than I ever did watching the Chiefs.

Saul Good 04-09-2015 01:47 PM

Hopefully the Sox just pack it up and get out of town.

I don't know much about Billy's athleticism outside of baseball, but I've never seen a guy get thrown out at first by 40 feet than he did.

siberian khatru 04-09-2015 01:50 PM

Steve Physioc was calling that game for the Angels too. It's tough on who was better. Both great. The wind today in KC is fierce and Eaton fought it the whole way.

Saul Good 04-09-2015 01:54 PM

I think Edmonds landed on the track. Best catch I've ever seen.

Reaper16 04-09-2015 01:54 PM

Did something happen earlier in this game that I missed? Someone called for a warning earlier.

The way the first 2 games have gone, they may have issued the warning from the beginning.

I would go with the Edmonds catch. Degree of difficulty was higher. Eaton's catch wouldn't have been as tough if he hadn't taken a false step in when the ball was hit.

Same here. I was at the stadium the next day, and when they showed the replay of the catch from the previous night with Edmonds standing in the outfield, the crowd gave him a standing ovation. He tipped his cap.

Great Expectations 04-09-2015 02:00 PM

It was probably as good of a time as any to hit LaRoche, but now I'm a little nervous.

Saul Good 04-09-2015 02:00 PM

So what's the plan here? Bring in the cyborgs or let him pitch through it?

siberian khatru 04-09-2015 02:00 PM

C'mon, one more, Volquez

Cain would've made a routine catch on that ball.

Yup Cain must be at least a foot taller and wouldnt even of had to jump.

Saul Good 04-09-2015 02:02 PM

Got to go to the pen. No sense risking the game to squeeze one extra out from your starter.

ChiTown 04-09-2015 02:02 PM

Don't hang one to Gillespie

Old Dog 04-09-2015 02:03 PM

Let him get Gillespie (sp) and then turn it over

siberian khatru 04-09-2015 02:03 PM

Old Dog 04-09-2015 02:03 PM

NEVER question Ned :)

Great Expectations 04-09-2015 02:04 PM

Nice, he still has an inning left against their 8, 9 and 1 hitters. Anybody gets on and it is Davis time

NO

siberian khatru 04-09-2015 02:05 PM

Whew.

I thought Ned had Morales up for Gillaspie. Maybe he'd rather have Volquez face Gillaspie than Morales face Beckham.

I'd bring in Hochevar. This seems like a perfect time to bring him back into the mix. Let Volquez call it a great day, and get Holland a little work in the ninth.

Umm, the Royals have a supersonic jet. He could be here in like eight minutes if need be.

Okay...scratch that.

How about Dyson to run for Infante and then replacing Rios in RF...Colon to second base...forever.

Plus the wind is blowing in from the NW, right? The tailwind should cut that time down considerably.

let Volquez pitch until the tying runner comes to bat
