I had a premonition a couple of weeks ago that this is going to be a magical Chiefs season. I don't usually have premonitions, so I take this one pretty seriously.

Who cares. It's a league chock full of 6-10 to 10-6 teams, all decided by how the ball bounces, or by who gets hurt. You can basically interchange all but the 6 best and 6 worst teams in the league every year. Rate us 24, rate us 14, whatever. It's all the same.

i dont agree with this

BossChief 05-13-2015 04:29 PM

Silly.

The Chiefs are easily a top 10 team unless Houston sits out...if he does, I wouldn't be shocked to see us have a 6-10/7-9 type year.

Pablo 05-13-2015 04:31 PM

Will the Chiefs win the AFCW this year? A top ten team should probably do so.

BossChief 05-13-2015 04:35 PM

I think it will be very close, Pablo.

I can see this team making it to the AFCCG, TBH. (I've NEVER said anything like that about a Chiefs team, either...even though I tend to be optimistic)

Very little weaknesses and a lot of strengths that match up to today's nfl model of big winning teams

Elite pass rush
Lots of playmakers on offense
Strong run game
Bad ass secondary
Doesn't turn the ball over
Causes turnovers
Good coaching
Elite speed on the outside
Handful of players on basically one year deals

I really like our chances to make a lot of noise

Yep and we've improved our WR. Maclin > Bowe. Wilson for a whole season > The WRs we were starting before Wilson started to emerge last season. And if Conley plays to even half his potential this year, we'll be set.

Popping wheelies is fun.

I have only had one student fail his checkride on the first try (out of 30-35 that got their private), coincidentally he was probably my best student. What did he fail?

Soft-Field Takeoff

Popped the wheelie perfectly, lifted off and touched down again. Bust.

You are not alone. ;)

Clay and Discuss say its 9-7 at best, and that's with a ton of breaks, so that's what I'm going with.

S-turns are easy over western Kansas. It's a gigantic 1x1 mile grid with 1/2 mile field roads.

Players lost:

Rodney Hudson
Dwayne Bowe

Players gained:

Maclin
Grubbs
Morse (I'm listing him because he will upgrade one of the line spots)
Devito
Peters (easily better than Owens, so he is an upgrade at minimum in nickel packages)
DJ
Branch
Fisher, Ford, Thomas, Gaines and Wilson with a full offseason.

Yeah, I'm sure we will be a bad football team.

NWTF 05-13-2015 06:46 PM

#24? really?.

Truth is they are a perennial .500ish club give or a take a game or two.
Should be a solid #11- #16 FWIW.

Generally overlooked by the national media, and they are not a sexy pick so when ever these meaningless rankings are done they are always overlooked for lesser teams.

smart money says missed the playoffs last year so they are right on schedule for yet another respectable season 9-7, 10-6, complimented by a one and done playoff trip.

Yeah, I'm sure we will be a bad football team.

They won't be bad. But they are not close to being a legitimate contender. At best a wild card team, and a geriatric Peyton Manning will be more than enough to keep them down once again.

BTW, DJ and Devito are done, and Fisher and Ford are wastes of skin. Branch is nothing.

Hammock Parties 05-13-2015 06:49 PM

You are also putting a lot on the rookies.

So far not one rookie has really been a big contributor under Dorsey in his first season.

If Morse and Peters are Grunhard and Hasty out of the box, you might have something. I suspect both will be disappointing though. At least initially.

keg said it best: the Chiefs are in that middle pack of teams where a good bounce here and there is is the difference between 6-10 and 10-6.

They make the playoffs? Whoopie, they're still getting bounced in the first round unless they play Cinci or the '15 AFC equivalent to last year's Cardinals.

Morse will be better than either starting guard from last year and by a lot. I doubt he is a world beater, but I find it hard to believe he would be worse than McGlynn or Fulton (even though Fulton was a lot better down the stretch)

Peters will be better than Owens.

That's unrealistic?

I asked a more accurate version of the question in this thread to a four striper who was dead heading on a flight I was on last month. At first he had the kind of "I hate dumb questions" reaction but realized I was talking about stuff that not every Tom, Dick and Harry would ask.

He then needled me for not getting my ticket and wondered why I wasn't trying to break into commercial aviation.

Who would have guessed that a team with a head coach that inexplicably shits his pants on gameday with the ABSOLUTE WORST SITUATIONAL PLAYCALLING IN RECENT MEMORY would be ranked low on the list? I mean, Andy Reid probably jerks it to the deciding play of the Superbowl 3-4 times on a daily basis. We could pound the ball in for the win easily with our monstrously talented back, but no, lets throw the ****ing thing for no apparent reason other than pure, unadulterated lunacy. Oh. We lost the football game?

I Gotta do a better job...........

Throw in a completely new and unproven group of guys on the offensive line to protect the most timid quarterback in recent memory along with a knack for ignoring the all world running back in the backfield, and one might suggest that 24 is far too high on that list to be ranked.
