I can't take credit. I said they were "about" to tie, which they were. I never said they "would" tie. I'm saving that for later....

Three7s 07-17-2015 02:13 PM

I didn't realize Moose's average had dipped below .300.

Nightfyre 07-17-2015 02:18 PM

Moose has seen 30 pitches in four at bats? How times have changed.

I didn't respond to that post simply because I didn't know how.
Are we now putting more value in a 5 pitch walk instead of a 12 pitch home run from our third baseman? LMAO

Is swinging at 7 pitches out of the zone something you want to tout as good?

You act like it's ****ing easy.
When you're down in the count, you're protecting the plate. You're in swing mode. It isn't as if there's a mechanism in Moose's brain that says "this pitch is a ball so don't swing" as soon as the pitcher releases the ball. It's not a video game. For Moose to battle that AB out through 12 pitches and then win that battle with a go-ahead homer.. to not accept that as good I just have no idea anymore.
Moose has shown more patience at the plate today than anyone else on either team.

You're looking into things way too much. Moose was competing, and sometimes, that means swinging at pitcher's pitches because you don't want to go down when you think you can make contact and avoid it. Not every hitter can instantly tell where every pitch is, and most will swing if it's close and 2 strikes.

baitism 07-17-2015 02:30 PM

Slower than Billay?

WilliamTheIrish 07-17-2015 02:31 PM

I already said he batteled and the outcome is good ...but swinging at 7 pitches out of the zone doesn't say much for plate discipline..does it?

Yesm he hit a HR but most times that ends in an out and you know this

Demonpenz 07-17-2015 02:34 PM

petegz28 07-17-2015 02:36 PM

If Moose swung at 7 pitches out of the zone and ended up striking out or hitting a weak grounder you guys would be bitching about him not taking the walk...William "20-20 hindsight" Irish would most likely be leading the way

BWillie 07-17-2015 02:38 PM

Unless an AB ends in a double play or isn't able to move a runner over, there is no such thing as a bad 12 pitch AB against a team's 1 or 2 SP.

I can't believe Pete is complaining about a 12 pitch ab. That is a great at bat no matter the outcome. I didn't see the ab, but I don't have to to know that if Moose was at two strikes, any pitch that is close or he thought has a chance to be a strike, he must make contact with.

But keep bitching, by all means.
