That looked like that hurt. Hopefully that dude is ok.

Always scary when someone gets hit in the eye.

Nice glove work. That ball came in hot.

Mr. Laz 06-27-2016 08:48 PM

Gotta love it when we get this Duffy.

Why Not? 06-27-2016 08:49 PM

If Duffy could only give us a few in a row even close to this.

He's not exactly been Chris Young. Coming into today he had a 3.54 ERA as a starter in 2016.

Pitt Gorilla 06-27-2016 08:59 PM

Royals Fan still want to release Morales?

Right. Some of the time he is a complete bad ass. The other times he is not close to that.

So ultimately his stats look decent but that's never been the issue with him. It's consistency.

And the Chris Young comparison was an exaggeration to prove a point.

Lol. That may have been the overreaction of all overreactions.

By putting in Eibner at DH and Fuentes at LF silly!

TomBarndtsTwin 06-27-2016 11:20 PM

Well, he was hitting .186 at one point not that long ago. And his job, as a DH, is to hit. That's it. Nothing more.

And there were some minor league call ups that had been recently called up and were swinging the bats pretty well.

I think most people just wanted him benched for a while, till he got his head screwed back on straight, which thankfully he seems to have done finally.

Chiefspants 06-27-2016 11:28 PM

Times like this make me glad we have Yost as a manager. His patience and belief in our players has been instrumental to this team's success.

When Yost first started, I remember the exact game where I thought he might be a step above the Barnyard Hillman's and Bobby "it can always get worse" Bell's of the world. In 2013 I lost faith for a while, but I'm happy to eat crow now.

This was the moment. The way he defended Kendall was a breath of fresh air compared to our managers in the past.

Definitely was a "welcome to the big leagues" moment for that ump (missed the name of him and his current status). That was pretty pathetic, treated Kendall like a damn-near little league player.

The day Ned is inducted into the Royals HoF, we shall be there for that one.

According to Wikipedia, Mike Estabrook got promoted to a major leagues ump in 2014. Since that was in 2010, I imagine that fiasco may have set him back for a while.

I imagine Ned Yost has cried over three things in his entire life. Old Yeller, the death of Ronald Reagan, and the Royals getting to the 2014 World Series. I imagine that day will be #4.

He was also close friends with Dale Earnhardt, in an unnecessarily literal sense, I bet he cried that day too (he is #3 in tribute to Dale).

Meanwhile, they are playing baseball at 2:30 am in NYC if you need your fix.
Rangers just took the lead after a 3.5 hour rain delay.

Absolutely. Listening to Ned speak about The Intimidator is one of the more humanizing things Ned has divulged in interviews.

I was hoping they'd finish that one. They pulled the tarp with the Rangers down one with runners on first and second.

The old Duffy would have melted down after that 2 run homer in the first and not gone 8 strong innings.

I think that's the most impressive thing about the "new Duffy", his ability to manage pitch count.

I saw multiple people on here calling for him to be cut outright.

Yep. I don't remember saying I wanted him cut, but I was really concerned with what the Royals were going to do with Eibner once Gordon came back. I assumed, and was correct, that they would option Eibner and stick with Morales. Really unfortunate for Brett, as I would have liked to see him stick with the Club for the balance of the year and see what sort of numbers he could produce.
