I don't know.. I see it as just another sub forum like Media Center\DC etc but only those who have been here a long time can view and post in it or not. It is up to them. There is alot of older posters that have left because they don't like all the cussing and personal attacks. This would allow them to come back and interact.

I have a hard time with all the personal attacks, too, but if they only want to interact with other old posters, what value does that bring the board? I've been a Chiefs fan as long as anyone here but I'm a relative noob to the board.

Mega threads for Chiefs discussion kind of suck. Besides being difficult to keep up with, they get bogged down with slap fights. They also allow stale topics to hang around on the front page.

Part of the issue is the small number of people that actually contribute Chiefs news. Then someone posts an article and it's greeted by 10 "Q"s or the article gets trashed because of the author, etc. Part of the reason every thread is about the QB is that no other stuff gets posted.

I'll again throw this out there:

DC needs more aggressive moderation. It can be from a team of two respected liberals and two respected conservatives.

But abusive language and behavior needs to be bled out of that forum. Unfounded articles from blatantly partisan sources need to be labeled as much, like they do on Reddit. It's the number one complaint everybody has of that page.

The people drawn to frequent political discussion have no interest in anything than talking points from their side, regardless of truth. It's juvenile "drumpf" and "shrillary" talk. For the most part this is an amazing discussion board. The free for alls happen but generally people get on very well together. Its easy to not deal with those you choose not to. And you have to admit the breadth and depth of interests, hobbies, abilities, business background, education is mind blowing.

A step back from the heat of battles over Alex's arm or the Oline, or what sort of steak is the best, or the boobbies threads makes you appreciate everyone who makes this what it is.

You (and BRC) are making this much more complicated than it needs to be. First off, don't complain about how much the cesspool stinks if you plan on continuing to shit in it on a regular basis. Secondly, threads based on articles can be clearly marked by their titles. Follow a simple format. Source: Article. Include a pertinent paragraph or two in the OP (italicized and bolded) followed by a link. Then add your starting comment. Here, I'll give you an example:

Well, sure, that is going to happen. But you have to let go of the idea that you get to control what other people add to a discussion. As far as DC versus Lounge moderation of 'fake news': If someone makes shit up about football and starts a thread about it here (trade/injury/etc.) it's usually fixed by the mods and that poster might get a ban for being a jackass. If someone posts a thread about football here based on an article that turns out to be bullshit, the mods will correct the title and the poster will, at most, be made fun of for falling for it. But it's not that cut-and-dry either in politics or religion. Some of it is a matter of opinion. And some of it is just stupid shit that only a few people will care about. That's why they have their own sub-forum.

So in this brave new forum, you can wish disease and death on people for disagreeing with Chiefs personnel decisions, but you can't call people mean names in the politics forum?

The thing is, I really didn't enjoy it - it's like I was a soldier fighting in the trenches every day and I just did it to do it. Why? What's the point in bickering with the same people day in and day out who seemingly take opposite positions on everything just to do it? Sounds like the definition of insanity to me. I've often said that if I had an Indian name, it would be Argues With Idiots. But what does that say about me? I don't give a shit what they think, and they don't give a shit what I think, so why bother? Plus, at the end of the day, the election is over, my guy won, I'm happy, and I neither feel the need to gloat or relive the constant conflict. If I want to discuss politics now I do in Facebook groups with like-minded people, and I ignore or simply unfollow my handful of liberal friends/relatives who are seemingly becoming even more unhinged now than they were before. I'll occasionally lock horns with somebody, but occasionally is enough - not every goddamn day. Don't need it, don't want it.

I'm in a better place now, and I'd like to stay there.
