Amazing ****ing stuff!!!!

penbrook 08-23-2017 09:53 PM

Royals always find a way ;)

Best22 08-23-2017 09:53 PM

Epic. Holland can't pitch in Kauffman if he isn't in Royal Blue!

mr. tegu 08-23-2017 09:53 PM

I can't believe that stayed fair.

penbrook 08-23-2017 09:54 PM

penbrook 08-23-2017 09:55 PM

I seriously wouldn't want anyone other than Hos at bat in a do or die situation. Hos is the definition of clutch. Look at the playoffs

alpha_omega 08-23-2017 09:55 PM

Nice.

Exit velocity was 109 MPH

Holland wasn't throwing any fastballs. You have to mix it up more than that.

penbrook 08-23-2017 09:56 PM

Twins and Cleveland both lost! Its happening boys!!

kgrund 08-23-2017 09:57 PM

This franchise since 2014 pulls more sh**t out of their a*** than any team in MLB. Not even close.:)

Chiefspants 08-23-2017 09:58 PM

You can call them the anti-Chiefs in that regard.

cabletech94 08-23-2017 09:59 PM

DO YOU BELIEVE!?!?

PAY THAT MAN HIS MONIES!!!!

penbrook 08-23-2017 09:59 PM

If you look up the word clutch in the dictionary it will say Eric Hosmer

He looked a lot like 2015 pre-TJS Holland tonight. Suddenly the Royals are looking pretty wise to have passed up on matching Colorado's deal.

This. I don't know any other guy who is more clutch than Hos dating back to the playoffs.

Bowser 08-23-2017 10:00 PM

It's hard to believe that was Hosmer's first walk off hit. Of course it comes against Holland.

I can't believe I've never thought of this... but...

its all good!

Bearcat 08-23-2017 10:03 PM

It obviously doesn't matter now, but do people really think Gordon should have tagged on Whit's out? I mean, that was a shot and got out to left pretty quickly.... take a step or two and you're probably not getting back to tag. I dunno, just seems like a very armchair coach thing to say.

And of course, everyone would have been pissed had he been standing on 1st, it drops, and he doesn't score on that play.

BWillie 08-23-2017 10:04 PM

What a win!

kgrund 08-23-2017 10:04 PM

Perhaps. Past couple of years they have been the greatest cockroaches in sports. Hard to kill for sure.

I was fine with him not tagging for those reasons. The ball was never an automatic out. Plus Gordon is not very fast.

KChiefs1 08-23-2017 10:08 PM

Long boring game but with a happy ending.

penbrook 08-23-2017 10:11 PM

Holland trying to get KC to the playoffs again. I see what you're doing Greg

It seemed like a fairly easy read and he was trailing toward the line when he caught it. It wasn't an obvious play, but I think a decent baserunner tags up there.

We really need to make some Royals cockroach tees.

Mahomes strikes me as a guy who can bring some Hos swag to the Chiefs. It's really the only thing the Chiefs are missing.

We already have that swag guy and that's Kelce

Eh. Kelce strikes me more as a Ventura/hothead type.

We need the swag without the benches clearing/15 year unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

Who would be like Kelce for the Royals?

I think Yordano previously had that title.

Crazy potential and ceiling. Pure boom or bust type of guy. Had the ability to take over primetime games (Game 6 of the 2014 WS and Game 6 of the 2015 ALCS), but also was at risk to be ejected and or disappear at the most inopportune times.

Pretty good comparison. Who would be like Mike Moustakas?

Let's do these comparisons

Danny Duffy-Alex Smith (Average, can play very well or somewhat poorly)
Mike Moustakas-Dee Ford (Considered a bust, now an emerging player)
Salvador Perez-Travis Kelce (Considered top 3 at their position, gregarious and fan favs)
Alex Gordon-Derrick Johnson (Old, beloved, but also has lots of doubters in the fan base)
Alcides Escobar-Albert Wilson (Not well liked by many fans, but always performs in the postseason. Fans baffled at how they keep starting)

Screw you, dude!!

I was just typing up a post comparing Moose to Dee Ford, assuming that Ford breaks out this year or next.

Gordo and DJ have a crazy history and are perhaps the strongest comparison. They were first busts and symbolized the failures of their franchises, before their resurgence symbolized their franchises rebirth.

I would like to think Duffy has a higher ceiling than Alex - hopefully he has a chance this October to prove that, but if not I could see that comparison too.

You nailed the Esky and Wilson comparison. Regular season they suck but come playoff time they always perform

baitism 08-23-2017 11:28 PM

The attendance at this Angels game is embarrassing. Probably 6-8k people there.

100% of MLB players do not tag on that play. The ball was drilled and looked to be a double off the bat. You go halfway as a runner there and wait to see if it drops. The fielder made the play on a dead run and Merrifield was even surprised he caught the ball.

I get it, I think I just had that opinion because of how long it took the ball to get from the left fielder to 2nd base. At the time I was thinking that Gordon could have easily made it.

On the next fly out, there's no way he's going from 1st to 2nd on a tag, but he could have easily made it from 2nd to 3rd had he been there.

I think you are right though, that ball was tagged and I thought it was a hit immediately but it hung up just enough for the LFer to run under it.

Demonpenz 08-24-2017 07:51 AM

In general don't make outs on the basepaths, but with the Royals? Do 10 shots of fireball and put on slutgear.

Great Expectations 08-24-2017 08:27 AM

We stole one last night. Having Kennedy on the bump give up 2 home runs, 2 walks, 1 double, and 4 singles in 4 2/3rds of an inning and the Royals still win is very impressive.
