Gotta give Baker and his teammates credit today. They kicked the crap out of the Ravens in Baltimore. Serious wakeup call for Harbaugh's squad after the media has been giving them so much praise the last few weeks. Browns needed a big win like that and now we'll see if they can turn that into real momentum.

BigCatDaddy 09-29-2019 06:13 PM

Ravens had their Superbowl last week and were flat.

Deberg_1990 09-29-2019 06:17 PM

Ravens D isn’t nearly as good as last season.

At least not yet. Something if off there.

They looked bad early last season too. Andy Dalton torched them for about 4 TD and 0 INT very early in the season. Ravens got much better as the season went along.

I sense a new Deberg thread in the coming weeks...

"Should the Chiefs have traded Patrick Mahomes for Baker Mayfield?"

Kitchens had his head screwed on straight for once. They ran the offense through chubb. And had a ton of designed quick plays for baker to get rid of the ball quickly. I still don't think Mayfield has proven he can go through progressions. Today he managed a good offensive gameplan.

Chubb is a great talent. He seems to be back to 100% after shredding his knee back in college.

Baker's still butthurt, by the way. In the presser he was like "I just hope everyone keeps the same energy. They threw us in the trash after last week.. we won't forget it."

Tressell was a good football coach but was far too conservative. He was the Marty of college ball. Gators were pretty tough then.

I never put much stock in OSU Bball... If they get to the tourney and make some noise for a couple rounds, that's about all I hope for haha.

But hey, we kick ass at pistol shooting and fencing! lol.

Mecca 09-30-2019 06:51 AM

Probably time to admit, Baltimore isn't that good, there's a reason many picked them to finish 3rd in the division.

Their wins are against teams with no wins, Earl Thomas today pulled up and didn't chase Chubb and claimed he didn't want to pull a hamstring...yea that's smooth.

I didn't watch the game, but... is CLE having issues because of Mayfield? Or is CLE just finding a way to be CLE?

I was never a fan of Baker and last year, he made the naysayers look dumb. Do you guys think the first 5 weeks are a fluke or was 2018 a fluke? The talent in CLE is so much better than it has been in years.

Interesting... I didn't like him coming out of OU, thought he was an incredible douche. Then, he plays well and is the new darling of the NFL. I don't really dislike him or the team - interesting to see the fall back to earth happen so quickly.

Combo of a lot of things. The offense needs to run through Chubb, not Mayfield, and the OL can't run block. Mayfield is a one read qb and defenses have learned to contain him or create pressure, take away his primary read, and disguise his coverages. And kitchens has no idea what he's doing, so there's that.

Baker can still be OK if Kitchens can design an offense that gives him room to improvise. He's slippery outside of the pocket and solid throwing on the run. But kitchens is punching way above his weight so that won't happen.

There’s a reason I call him “mini Leaf”. I’m not going to be surprised at all if he’s out of the league in a few years. Niners totally punked him on and off the field yesterday.

RedRaider56 10-08-2019 07:10 AM

Not surprising given his antics in college, that they would still continue in the NFL. I loved the reference regarding Mahomes. "He's the MVP and could do that, but wouldn't because he respects the game"

The whole league respects Pat because he’s a classy guy that treats people with respect. Mayfield is galaxies away from that.

The browns had to take a qb and they didn't have great options. I don't think it was a bad pick. And with better coaching he may become an adequate, not great, qb. Maybe they could have taken Josh allen but I'm not necessarily sold on him either.

This was Sherman's exact quote:

Quote:

"Respect the game. You can have rivals, but pay your respect in that moment — especially when you're young. He hasn't earned anything in this league. How many games has he won? He's acting like he was the MVP last year. If (Patrick) Mahomes did that, it would be one thing. But he would never do that, because he has too much respect for the game."

The reason the browns went qb is kind of interesting. I said way back then that the browns had no choice but to go qb. All browns fans needed was stability. Baker will probably finish this season. Here's something crazy. If baker finishes the season, he will become the first browns qb all century to play all 16 games. Of baker, darnold, Allen... As bad as baker has been, he still could end up the best of the group.
