Here we go. Late games > early games.

Coach 09-20-2020 09:28 PM

Oh man. One final play left.

smithandrew051 09-20-2020 09:28 PM

Holy shit. What a game.

dirk digler 09-20-2020 09:28 PM

Oh shit. I could see cam running it in to win

cdcox 09-20-2020 09:28 PM

Pats are going to win on a Cam run.

Red Dawg 09-20-2020 09:28 PM

Hawks are not winning the SB. This is sad.

tk13 09-20-2020 09:28 PM

You give yourself the option to run now.

RINGLEADER 09-20-2020 09:28 PM

Cam is going to run it in and the Pats are going to win.

That 3rd and 1 deep throw is just weird...

smithandrew051 09-20-2020 09:29 PM

Some sort of run-pass option for Cam here

Brady looking bad right now. Pats are better without him but Cam blew it.

tk13 09-20-2020 09:30 PM

That was too obvious. Seahawks were all over it.

smithandrew051 09-20-2020 09:30 PM

They put all their eggs in one basket. Needed someone to release into the flat their. Give Cam some options.

RINGLEADER 09-20-2020 09:30 PM

Good.

Deberg_1990 09-20-2020 09:30 PM

Why do you run Cam there when everyone knows your going to do it?

mr. tegu 09-20-2020 09:30 PM

Can’t believe they didn’t have something to play off of what the Seahawks knew they were going to do to trick them.

They did, they just burned that play a few series ago.

kjwood75nro 09-20-2020 09:31 PM

Seattle lost by passing when they should've ran, now New England loses by running when they should've passed.

Always in favor of NFC teams beating good AFC teams in the regular season. Helps KC in the playoff standings.

If they keep running Can like that Stidham will be starting sooner than later.

Frazod 09-20-2020 09:38 PM

I'm glad Seattle won, or more to the point, I'm glad the Cheatriots lost, but goddamn Pete Carrol is a ****ing moron. 3rd and 1 in that situation and you call a deep pass? Jesus. It's like Wile E. Coyote calling plays out of the ACME playbook.

We should rename the Dumbass Lounge the Pete Carrol Lounge. I'm sure Milkman would approve.

JD10367 09-20-2020 09:50 PM

Patriots played a lot better than I expected. A win would’ve been a nice surprise but honestly I’m just glad they didn’t shit their pants. Optimistic.

RollChiefsRoll 09-20-2020 09:50 PM

Sit and spin, Belichick and Newton!

I didn’t think they ran him much tonight. Week 1 they did but tonight they seemed to place an emphasis on not running him.

Either way if our offense is hitting on all cylinders in a couple of weeks, I think Cam will force some throws and our D will get some takeaways

Would've been a great time to have a tight end leak out there and have Cam have the option for the ol' jump pass after drawing the whole Seahawks defense to him.

Right there.

Belichick burned it to get the game closer. I mean sure, he could've tried it again and maybe he should have, but the Seahawks weren't going to be completely caught off guard by it.

(P.S. This is why Andy keeps shit in his pocket when the Chiefs are winning by 17 in the 2nd half. Don't show what you don't have to)

BB's been 'stealing' touchdowns off 4-wide sets with Brady finding a seam to sneak it into for years.

I have no idea why they didn't try that here. I wonder if the thought was that Seattle would've just sold out with a run-blitz regardless of whether or not you put 4 wide and in that event, Newton's hit as he gets the snap.

Hard to say why he went that route. I don't think there was even an option pitch available to him. Pretty much relied on his guys in the trenches to out-physical a pretty strong defensive front that also had numerical superiority.

lcarus 09-21-2020 08:59 AM

He should have at least given Cam some kind of option there. It was obvious the Seahawks were gonna be ready for that run.

It's possible that Newton had a read key of some sort.

He moved a RB in-line, IIRC. It's possible Newton had the choice of sending him out in the pattern or drag as a potential pitch option and elected not to.

Yeah true. It's possible he just made the wrong decision. He wasn't even really close on that run lol.

lcarus 09-21-2020 10:26 AM

I thought Edelman got out of bounds but it was hard to tell for sure on the replay. If they used the timeout there with 28 seconds, assuming everything played out the same way, the incompletion took about 6 seconds, then the play that got them to the 1 took 7 seconds. They would've had to spike it which usually takes 10 or 11 seconds. It would've left them with somewhere around 4-6 seconds. MAYBE calling a timeout with 28 seconds would've bought them an extra play. But they thought it was better to run a hurry-up play and it worked. Edelman just didn't catch it.

That's exactly what I expected to see them do as well.

I think this is just a simple case of McDaniels over-thinking the play.

BWillie 09-21-2020 11:03 AM

As expected, it appears the Patriots upgraded at quarterback. Their defense has fallen off due to opt outs and due to free agency but it is still formidable. They will be a force in the AFC.

Going to Seattle and being a 1 yard play away from winning is nothing to be ashamed of.

It was 80% Belichick. 20% Brady.
