I would say before Mahomes our last truly competitive SB contending team would have been the 2003 Trent Green led team... and our Defense was an all time worst, so that is really pushing it. Before that, you go back to Joe Montana in the early 1990's. So a reminder for you Bengals fan... we deserve this... regardless if you think our city is a flat, trailer infested, hillbilly shit-hole. Do those parts exist? Sure... in every city. |

John Mackovic is the last KC Chiefs coach to win a road game against the Bengals in Cincinnati. Chiefs won in 1984.
Lost last five games at Cincy. Including 2003 Chiefs going to Cincy at 9-0 and picking up 1st loss of that season. In 2008, Ryan Fitzpatrick was the winning QB in season finale. This is the first game for Mahomes at Bengals, and that is a huge difference, but Cincinnati is not a place where the Chiefs have had much success. |

This thread is golden. We have the ozarks, Hillbillies, nasty fans, Pats brother, his wife, smug fans, KC is a shithole and crime ridden, and even use the misery line like its new. One would believe Cincy is like some urban mecca filled with beautiful people. |

I don't see how any of us could really have anything genuinely negative to say about the Bengals. Before we drafted Mahomes, they were one of only a handful of franchises who had a more pathetic history than the Chiefs.
Good on them for developing a roster with some real talent and excitement. They absolutely deserve it. I'll root for them against any other team in football provided it doesn't negatively impact KC. |

CINCI VS GOOD TIGHT ENDS!!
Waller= 7 catches for 116 yards Kittle= 13 catches for 151 yards & a TD Andrews= 8 catches for 125 yards & a TD Hockenson= 8 catches for 74 yards QB's THEY'VE FACED THIS YEAR Mike White Jared Goff Trevor Lawrence Lamar Jackson Baker Mayfield Aaron Rodgers Derek Carr Justin Herbert Jimmy Garopalo KIrk Cousins Teddy Bridgwater/Drew Lock Big Ben Josh Johnson Andy Dalton/Justin Fields The qb's they've faced is littered with rookies and average to poor guys under centre. One thing that is clear as day though...is they simply cannot handle quality tight-ends. Andrews ate them alive yesterday with Josh Johnson as his QB who barely knew him. Whilst Kittle was doing anything he wanted to that defense a few weeks ago. A number of receivers have also had huge games against Cinci..namely Devonte Adams, Mike Williams and Adam Thielan. |

I'm guessing Chiefs are going to be the magical 3.5 favorites.

Their other DE, Sam Hubbard, seems like a solid role player but not a star. I've watched them a half dozen times and don't remember hearing his name. Their DTs are good-not-great rushers in Ogunjobi and D.J. Reader (formerly of the Browns and Texans, respectively). It's a good unit. I don't think their E are as good as Crosby and Ngakue, and I don't think their overall DL unit is as good as the Browns' was week 1, or as deep and good at rushing the passer as the Bills. They can certainly give KC some trouble, though, and I expect them to make some plays. The Bengals look to have trouble with TEs (both watching them and stat scouting), so getting a 100 percent healthy Kelce back would be tremendously helpful. Their FS, Jessie Bates, is possibly the most underrated S in the NFL. Really good all-around player who doesn't get a lot of notice (kind of what you want from your FS). Very similar to Thornhill. They're a good team. It won't be a cake walk. But I think KC's much improved OL and defense really show up in this one. Something like a 31-17 or 31-20 win is what I see. Key thing is going to be disrupting their line with the front 4 and letting Spagnuolo play games with Mathieu, Sneed, and Thornhill. Gay and Bolton (hopefully cleared from COVID reserve) will have to defend the run well downhill and also handle Mixon out of the backfield. |

I just heard their backup QB tested positive… Whoa baby!

Cincinnati was also known as "Porkopolis"; this less desirable nickname came from the city's large pork interests.
I thought it was the women there. |
What team have the Bungals beaten that's good? I see mediocre wins, three ugly losses to horrible teams and no wins against real SB threats.

I’m happy Brown/Mahomes will get a test like this before the playoffs. Hendrickson bullied an injured Fish throughout the game last year. I remember after Patrick took a bad sack he actually patted Fish on the helmet after in an encouraging way. It felt like Fisher was playing really hurt, and it makes you wonder how he was compensating for his injuries throughout the last season. |
I saw one of the Bengals posters mention that sacks aren’t the only pass protection stat that matters. I generally agree with this, except when a team allows a really high or low number. I don’t think it really matters if a team is ranked in the middle of the league. A few games can skew your ranking a lot.
The Bengals are different though. They’re the worst in the league in sacks allowed and the problem has gotten worse or at least persisted lately. Either way, sacks are important though. It just takes 1 to wreck a drive and swing momentum. |
As a SMS grad I laughed out loud at South having "gangs" now

My God, this board is an embarrassment to Chiefs fans everywhere. Every time I go read KCs next opponents board they talk about how obnoxious the Chiefs fan base is and every time they mention this board. Is it too much to ask to show a little class and sportsmanship?

They've got a decent squad, up and coming and all that. I remember when we were there. I always had hope we'd be able to beat Manning's Broncos and Brady's Pats. They're kind of like us circa 2013/2014 but with a homegrown QB, which intensifies the homerism. Even still, most of them there were just annoyed by how confident we are, which is also pretty normal given our team's recent success. They seem to realize winning this game on Sunday will be a major feat. Quote:
When they're not playing KC I root for them just like for the Brownies and Billies. EDIT: I guess I forgot that it was a Bengals player who knocked Trent Green out for several weeks back in 2006 |

This guy's entire MO is trolling other teams' boards and making obnoxious posts. LMAO |
Well, this place isn't for everyone, especially those who can't see through the crassness of this place.
Hell, I once made a lighthearted innocent joke on the Chiefs reddit about Lamar Jackson being a running back and It was down voted like 5 times, perhaps because it had a "stats" tag and math and jokes don't mix. LMAO Different strokes. |

The last time we beat the Been Gals in Cincy was in 1984 at Riverfront Stadium. We've never beaten them in the newer Paul Brown Stadium in four tries. So I'd say that's some bulletin board material, as they're already chalking this up as win number five.

The whole narrative in sports that unlikely things just keep happening (like when a Mahomes led team loses 4 of 7, so they'll obviously keep losing most of their games) is very anti-statistics. |
I didn't save the thread link but it was especially funny reading the one where the guy goes on and on about having faced top-tier pass rushers off the edge so they aren't scared of the pass rush. Never mind the fact they are facing the 2nd best interior pass rusher in the NFL, one like they don't and haven't faced, to go along with solid outside rushers. That dynamic should be interesting since their IOL is even worse than their tackles, especially where Jones will line up over Hopkins and Adeniji.
Burrow will have to get the ball out extremely fast and he has long-stride WRs going against press-man corners. That's not an easy task. We'll see, but I like KC's matchup if the pressure is getting home like expected. If the pressure isn't getting there, then I think our DBs might struggle to cover those receivers long. As for their defense... they have 3 good players in Hendrickson, Wilson, and Bates. Wilson might not play. The rest of that defense is very mediocre and don't match up well with KC's speed. They can't cover Kelce and they won't be able to cover Hill. So long as KC helps out Brown with Hendrickson, there shouldn't be much to slow down KC's offense. Avoid throwing shit up for grabs around Bates or he'll make you pay. Vonn Bell fills well in the run game but isn't too great in coverage. CBs are all retreads. |
