That's disappointing.

Can anybody explain to me how the hell this team can build any DL of value by burning our big FA resource on Metcalf with no first round pick?

DK's cap hit next year is only $4 mil. As far as next year is concerned there is virtually no financial difference between drafting a WR at #30 as compared to using pick #30 to trade for DK. You have the rest of your free agent budget and draft to address defense.

It is an exciting rumor, I simply don't like the trade. I'd love to have DK but that price is way too steep. Dude missed too many games last year.

ROFL.... I also have some outside information, that my favorite football team (the Kansas city chiefs, in case you were wondering), will be playing Foosball on a Foosball field.

BigRedChief 03-10-2022 08:21 AM

Wellll since Veach has traded our last 2 first round picks, its not a stretch to say he will trade the pick again this year. Not exactly a scoop that this could happen.

No issues trading a low 1st rounder. A proven free agent has a higher likelihood of immediate impact than someone your getting at 25-32

Wow! That does change my perspective.

If the rumor is true then we need to get a 2nd back. First and a third is still too high.

New World Order 03-10-2022 12:04 PM

I'm just saying: DK Metcalf on a cheap deal this year and a guy like Z'darius Smith would be boss.

chiefforlife 03-10-2022 12:07 PM

I keep hearing that Patrick is on record saying he would rather have a proven FA WR than a drafted WR?

Not doubting it but would like to read it for myself. Anyone know if this is true or where to find it?

I've heard that too but I find no truth to it and unless I see quotes or hear Patrick say it myself I'm not going believe it. Also why would he say that if they find a stud WR in the draft? Vroch is good at finding talent I trust Vranch very much. I looked for article and didn't find anything other than Josh Gordon and extending Tyreek Hill.

BossChief 03-10-2022 03:17 PM

My concern with Metcalf is similar to Hardman. He’s a GREAT deep threat and has elite speed…but struggles running routes that expose the defenses ability to defend the intermediate middle of the field with someone other than Kelce. I haven’t spent a lot of time the last couple seasons to see if he’s improved in that subsection of his position, but his combine change of direction numbers were poor, so I’m assuming he hasn’t improved greatly in that area.

The thought of DK running that jet sweep though….wow. Or even blocking for it.

I guess I think Cooper or Lockett being a better scheme fit. Or a few other guys that will be available that run crisp routes and are smart.

If we give up a first and third for DK, we better be getting a premium pick back.

duncan_idaho 03-10-2022 03:28 PM

I could see the Chiefs trading for a Seattle receiver, but I'd bet on Tyler Lockett before Metcalf.

You basically can acquire him on a 2/$26M deal, if I'm interpreting the out correctly.

If you cut him after next season you're on the hook for $7.5M in dead cap.

I could see throwing Seattle a mid-round pick for that.

From a cap perspective you could have DK for the next two years cheaper than Lockett. DKs 2022 cap hit is just over $4 million. Worst case scenario you tag him in 2023 and the price tag for a tag on a wide receiver in 2023 will likely be around $20 million.

Trade for DK, sign Z Smith, resign Ward, hit on a draft pick or two as day 1 starters. All other moves can be JAGS and we are heavy SB favorites heading into next year.

The Franchise 03-10-2022 03:50 PM

Seriously. This.

It makes 0 sense for them to trade their baller WR whos on a rookie deal. Now, Lockett I could them moving.

I don't think Metkalf actually helps them all around as a receiver the way they need. KC doesn't need another deep-only threat. It needs a guy that can deep and hurt teams against single coverage, but who also can make plays underneath and intermediate areas.

If they didn't have Hill, Metkalf is a better fit. Since they do, Lockett is not a bad bet to me.

Jalen Hurts, Mason Rudolph and Patrick Mahomes. I wonder who wins that one.

And don't come at me with your targets bullshit. Smith is a target sponge in Philly and their QB doesn't throw the ball. The Steelers are good at WR. Juju would get targets here.

He wouldn't be my first choice for FA WRs but I wouldn't be upset if he came at a decent price.

He was at his best as a #2 option behind AB. I think he’d do just fine being the #2 WR behind Cheetah. Really a number 3 guy behind Kelce too. Seems like the best role for him.

493rd 03-11-2022 05:01 PM

DK to KC was never happening.

BossChief 03-11-2022 06:50 PM

I’m not a big Juju fan, TBH. I’d be happy if we sign him, but I think we can do a lot better. Post injury, he might be JAG.

chiefforlife 03-11-2022 06:57 PM

JuJu had ONE decent season, thats it. There are other guys I would be more interested in.

Sofa King 03-11-2022 07:22 PM

He's definitely a jag. I wouldn't touch him at all.
