As I've said, I think there's a solid chance that Wharton is a surprise breakout player for us this season, but even the guy he's been from day 1 is the type that's going to give guys fits in 1 on 1s.

Athletic interior rushers are going to win those more often than not.

And why aren't we eviscerating Jones on the missed tackle of CEH. Do I need to remind any one of how many tackles Chris Mother ****ing Jones missed last year? I seem to remember one Joe Bitch Ass Burrow being in his grasp, like CEH here, and missing the tackle.

Probably because it's training camp and Chris Jones is our best defensive player by leaps and bounds.

Didn't Reid say in his presser that we were not taking guys to the ground?

It's okay to say he missed the tackle.

edit*

And shouldn't we expect our best player on defense to make a tackle when it is his grasp?

Is that too much to ask for? Expectations too high?

There are plenty of people being taken to the ground. My goodness, Chris Jones took someone to the ground that very snap.

You're the one who used the term"eviscerate."

Why are we not "disemboweling" Chris Jones?

I answered that one.

It's nice you have your word-of-the-day calendar and it's "eviscerate" but understand the connotation and magnitude of it.

Eviscerate <> criticize. No one is saying Chris Jones is beyond "reproach."

Maybe that's your word for tomorrow?

About the 1:10 mark he says that they want to be off the ground so we don't have injuries. Paraphrased of course.

I bet Trey will be looking for Turk from here on out to seek revenge. He got embarrassed out there, you know that pissed him off.

hell yes he could. What's nice about having every starter present and healthy at camp is that anyone who wins a position battle actually WON it.

Scott, Grunhard, Shields were probably the best

I'm totally going with Shields-Weigmann-Waters but it's all subjective.

Well I was speaking figuratively, not literally. But if that is what it takes for him to make the tackle when he should.

I think a lot of people would agree with that, even after only one season for Creed.

The issue is, Shields was better than Thuney and Waters takes a shit on Trey Smith.

I have to assume you're talking about my take on Waters>Smith.

Waters was a two-time 1st team All-Pro. He was also the third best lineman on one of the top 3 best offensive lines of all time.

Trey Smith might be the third best OL on a unit that may not even be top 3 in the NFL this season.

I really don't think it's close at this point.

So is Trey Smith if we're arguing that he's on Brian Waters' level.

Trey Smith is a second year player. Taking an all pro at his zenith isn't a fair comparison, and I'd still say that "takes a shit" is excessive.

Well that's your fault for not paying attention to the conversation.

This comment sparked it: "Watching Thuney-Creed-Trey is amazing. It’s the best IOL in the league and the best we’ve ever had."

Note the 'best we've ever had'. That implies that it is better, right now, than that interior of Shields-Weigmann-Waters IN THEIR PRIME.

Prime Brian Waters from 2003, 2004, 2005 takes a massive shit on Trey Smith in 2021. Be realistic here, dude.

ThaVirus 08-04-2022 10:15 AM

Like I said, Waters was the third best lineman on an OL that included Willie Roaf and Will Shields. Roaf is probably a top 5 LT of all time and Shields is probably top 3 LG of all time.

Trey Smith might not even be the third best lineman we have at this exact moment, depending on how you feel about Brown Jr.

I'm shocked anyone would even make the argument, tbh.
