Do you side with Mahomes godfather, friends?
The right side of history here is obvious. The Star is a great evil. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/KC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#KC</a> The entire city should be embarrassed. He and <a href="https://twitter.com/BrittanyLynne?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@BrittanyLynne</a> have embraced the entire community in every way possible. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/KCStar?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#KCStar</a> Editor shame on you for publishing a bunch of BS. <a href="https://t.co/kzecqUy7St">https://t.co/kzecqUy7St</a></p>— LaTroy Hawkins (@LaTroyHawkins32) <a href="https://twitter.com/LaTroyHawkins32/status/1576018702159396864?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">October 1, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |

The Star’s Twitter account is doubling and tripling down. It may have started as a letter to the editor but it obviously has their full endorsement.

Pissing off Brit seems like a bad thing. He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to the chiefs (and maybe KC). Don’t give him a reason to leave.

Actually, I’m retracting my previous position on the issue. And in doing so I apologize to Clay.
He’s right. This is a letter to the editor, and while there’s no part of me that has any problem that it’s published (newspapers regularly publish these sorts of things that are antagonistic and antithetical to the views of the paper), the fact that they tweeted it out first thing in the morning and clearly didn’t do a good job expressing that it’s a letter to the editor, well, that’s a ****ing problem. Because now half of KC is running around with their hair on fire as a result. And that does no one any favors and is entirely a function of the way they presented this. Had it been accurately labeled, different story. But it’s even beyond clickbait - it’s just really poor journalism-ish behavior in an era of social media. So, Clay. I’m sorry. **** The Star. They completely brought this on themselves and it’s deeply poor form. |
This is so pathetic, it's difficult to Belize.
|
We ousted Keitzman. Now we turn to a familiar enemy, The KC Star
|
Quote:
Yeah this is really bad optics and massive clickbait by the Star. They're trying to fan flames of what was an opinion by some moron, but throwing it on Twitter is all about them trying to do more than publish an opinion. Clay has been right on this - what is the reason for the Star to do this besides causing division and a money grab? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
The star can publish what they want. But it’s not typical for people to post a tiny op Ed on their social media for clicks, is it? I’m guessing they didn’t post a social media headline about the public libraries. So they used it as clickbait. Clickbait is different from a contrarian point of view. Its not the publishing but the promoting of something with zero substance for clicks. I would love to read some contrarian points of view about mahomes, but at the very least put a little effort into it. I’m guessing they’ve received way more opinions that actually has a semblance of effort.
|
This is the problem with publishers on social media. It’s probably their most liked story in years. And yet its likely pissed off lots of subscribers. But they’re fine with that. My fear is that is the start of a troll racket where they realize they can bother our team with sensational national enquirer like stories knowing that clicks are more profitable than subscribers.
|
they pushed the op-ed as a real story? **** them.

Funny story, I had just gotten back from Afghanistan years ago. Went to KC to chase some girl around, she got extremely drunk and wondered off. I was wondering around trying to find her, got stomach cramps. So I took a huge explosive shit all over the side of their building. Guess the Afghanistan food, beer, bourbon, and being so close to their shitty paper gave me bubble guts. |

I miss the old days. |
Good to see some of you coming around and seeing this for what it is... a desperate paper fighting for relevancy, good or bad, to stay afloat. Many want to slam Clay, but he was spot on with the Star's intent and the vitriol they they show to the Chiefs and their fans...

A new low for the KC Star
Quote:
Guess I'm not understanding the shade towards Clay and not on the Star on this one. He is spot on with this. I'm obviously not a regular poster, but what they have done here is total BS. We finally have a franchise QB and they are trying to create drama and division in KC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Now, should the Star have a higher standard? Of course. But, come on, are any of us actually surprised that they posted this? Absolutely not. I can't imagine there are many Chiefs fans left who don't see the Star's editorial choices for what they are. So all we accomplished by posting the article here is a bunch of ranting about an opinion that almost no one actually shares. |
I find that the KC Star is at LEAST partially responsible for driving Tyreek out of here. Their treatment of him, I would have left as soon as possible myself.

If I sent a letter to the editor talking about how much Hitler ruled, the Star wouldn't ****ing print it.
Well, maybe they would. But they DID choose to print this particular letter. They're at fault, guys. |

chiefs are going to gut the star |
But ultimately, we're all talking about the KC Star. And that's exactly what all they really wanted in the first place.

|
Clay,
Sorry for going after you. The KC Star was wrong for printing that letter. It should have been trashed and never see the light of day. I've cancelled my subscription to the Star |
The Star could have opted to not publish the letter from some dipshit who only started "following" the team as defending SB champions. It's understandable that they did post it in the spirit of LTEs being a forum for contrarian views as ridiculous as they might be. Fine.
But there is exactly zero reason to amplify the letter through their PR mouthpiece. None. |

The star has also sold the old historic building at 17 and Grand.

I for one believe strongly that Kansas City, Kansas, should change its name to avoid confusion with the larger Missouri city. And I think it should be called Missouri City, Kansas, to remain consistent with existing naming conventions. |

Who was that one guy who thought we should divert the Missouri River through north KC and build a new Arrowhead over there? Or something like that. It involved diverting the Missouri. Put that in. Rename KCK to Missouri City. The new airport is ugly, so we should build a new one and put it downtown. There’s a rumor floating around that 40% of the employees for the KC Star are having affairs with sheep. The possibilities are endless |

If an overwhelmingly liked CP member posted this thread, there would be next to zero backlash for it. It's only that many despise Clay that there are mixed feelings here.
People can say whatever they want however stupid it may be... but the Star chose to print this for clicks and attention. |

A winning sports team is one of the few things that bring a city together. The fact that the Star would highlight some out of town rando’s moronic opinion and use it as obvious clickbait shows what pieces of shit run that rag. Patrick has embraced KC and done nothing to warrant this. One of the hacks who works at the Star is on Twitter trying to defend their obvious cry for attention.
